Opal StroleSpring was coming. Lusaki knew it. The days were still cold, but noticeably warmer. The vernal equinox had passed. And Lusaki had her eyes on engineering. She (hope this is legal) stole herself a beginner's guide on Engineering, and she wanted to learn to build things. As Lusaki walked into the already-dangerous Half-Blood's Forest, she used echolocation just for the heck of it. Chirping quickly, she closed her eyes. She walked through a clear bush, in front of something that blockhed her path. Opening her eyes, Lusaki saw a tree and grinned. "Opal?" Lusaki looked around for her assassin trainor. "Opal, I'm here. It's Sunday."

The plan was going.... alright. Not much had really happened, as far as Opal knew, since her declaration at the concert a day or so before, which hurt not only her personal idea of her ego, but also her knowledge of what was happening around the school - No, not school or academy, but castle. It's my fortress. That's why they aren't really aloud to hang around there much. That made her smile, but it weakened when she remembered, once again, that it was Sunday. So, resting in a tree, toying with a dagger in her fingers, which had become a thing for her, Opal sat and waited by the spot on the river. Lost in her own thoughts, she forgot to pay attention. Am I doing the right thing? What if she turns against me? What if she turns into me? "Opal? Opal, I'm here. It's Sunday." Lusaki's voice made Opal's eyes flash around instinctively. Recognizing the voice, she slid her knife into her sheath and peered around the tree. She seems to not know where I am. Silently, Opal sneaked along the branch above Lusaki. She was close. The right tree. Then, crouching overhead, she timed herself. All at once, the assassin hooked her legs around the branch, swung down, and attempted to bind Lusaki's wrists in her hands and pull the girl up to hover in the air, dangling. May not have made much of a difference considering Lusaki was an animal of flight, but a fright all the while, hopefully. Fear makes people learn. It makes then obey. And it makes them understand. "Lesson number one: Always be aware." A little hypocritical considering a minute before, but a worthwhile lesson.

A moment's pause. Then Lusaki felt a lurch, and she was dangling in the air, something holding her wrists together. Yelping, Lusaki tried to writhe around, then she heard the extremely familiar voice say to always be aware. Okay, so it was Opal. Lusaki looked up at Opal. "Oh hi!" She grinned. "Ahh yea, sorry." She took a glance at Opal. She looked nice. Pretty, like always. It seemed to hard to think that this girl could be an assassin, but then who could? Who could tell that this person took over the school? Lusaki blinked her eyes. Her vision seemed a little fuzzy. Maybe she was nearsighted. I'll check the doctors about that. Lusaki looked up at Opal, expecting Opal to either drop her or throw her into a tree or something.

Smiling faintly, gazing into Lusaki's eyes for a moment, then hoisting the girl up so she could grab onto the branch as well. Then, assuming she had a good grip, Opal swung back up onto the branch, standing on it as though it were the easiest thing in the world. Then, standing above her little apprentice, finally willing to do her simple training - she wasn't willing to do tough training unless asked - she licked her lips and brushed some black hair back. "We'll do some more training with speed, if that's okay?"|Stick with the plan |

Lusaki looked up at Opal. "At least teach me to stand on a tree!" Lusaki replied when Opal talked about speed training. Aww man, I wanted to do other things. Lusaki balanced herself and then attempted to get on her feet, in which she was too scared to go past putting her feet on the branch.
(cataracts is gradual... you know... and what's the plan again!? XD)

|Lusaki begs for harder training)
Opal rolled her eyes playfully and offered her hands for help to steady the girl. "Fine. But then training. Okay?" She responded, too weak to suggest other wise. "Just... You're half bat! You're supposed to love trees! And if you do fall - which I'll make sure you don't - just shift. Okay?" I'm using words like okay! What has my life come to?

Lusaki stood up slowly. "I'm used to hanging upside down. I've never stood on a tree before." Lusaki said quietly. It felt like gravity was trying to push her down, and Lusaki wobbled.
"Are we just going to run around again?" Lusaki asked, perhaps little too much of a pushing reply. But then, Lusaki hated running around with no avail.

"Not just," Opal assured Lusaki, though she really didn't have much other of a plan. Balancing carefully, she wondered why Lusaki seemed so... annoyed? Is it something I'm doing? Shrugging it off internally, she smiled, then swung down from the branch onto the ground, then looked up expectantly.

(frick so sorry for the late reply!)
Lusaki, who had gone back to sit down with her legs dangling, looked back at Opal. She was terrified of heights, which was strange because Lusaki loved anything to do with heights except the height itself. Lusaki edged closer to the trunk, and slowly climbed back down. She then ran to join Opal. "What else then?" she asked innocently.

Opal smiled, circled over to the edge of the river, and shrugged. "I have a few ideas. Some you can opt out of. Others are more required. As usual, what do you want to learn?"

"A lot." Lusaki answered briefly. "Like what you do." She followed Opal with a pleasant smile, looking at the river. Her reflection was barely seen, but she could see herself, the colors of her outfit, which was a light brown and purple. Lusaki looked back at her mentor. "Just name what you plan and I'll think about it." Lusaki grinned.
(argh, why is your laziness so infectious?)

Opal chewed on her lip, looking back uncertainly. She considered the girl's wish, how it would affect the two of them. What might she do? "Lusaki... I've already said I don't want you to become what I am. I don't want you to be a murderer. I killed more than twenty innocents." Half-bloods aren't innocent. But she is. And I can't let that happen to her. "Why in the world would you want to be capable of that?"

"Well... I don't know." Lusaki said, thinking. "But still, I won't kill any innocents. I promise. I'll just kill whoever you say aren't innocents."

Opal signed, sat down on the banks of the river, and patted the ground. "I think I need to clarify something," Opal said, licking her lips. "In my eyes, all half-bloods are not innocent. I'm not killing them.... yet. I'm a monster, and I can't let you become that. Do you understand what you're asking by letting me - begging me - train you?"

Lusaki, who had no idea what that meant, replied, "Well, does that mean I'm not innocent? And no, I don't."

Again, Opal shook her head. "No- Yes... I don't know. You're my weakness. And that's my issue." Standing up again, she took in a deep breath. "Lets start. Just... attack me. As best you can."

Lusaki didn't do anything. "To be stronger, you'd have to get rid of the weakness you have. Well if I was your weakness, wouldn't you have to get rid of me?" she asked quietly. Her face was more thoughtful then actual shock. She kinda just had that face, as if discovering magic is real except kinda expecting it anyways.
"But then, weaknesses are replaced by new ones, liking replaced by new ones. If I stopped being your weakness, then I guess your brain would replace it with something else." Lusaki continued. "Psychology, right? But temporarily, getting rid of me would make you stronger...."

Opal couldn't believe what it sounded like Lusaki was saying. Firstly, it was actually intelligent, but then there was the issue that she seemed like she was offering her life... Almost. Turning sharply and drawing a medium knife - her favorite one - she tried to pin Lusaki to a tree trunk, knife at her throat, hands pinned above her head. "This blade is my life. The blood of those I kill paints my blade and in turn my life. I don't want your death written on this knife. I can't hold that in my story, or my heart." Opal stepped back. "I may be a cruel woman, but I am not going to break our promise."

Lusaki was pinned against a tree trunk. With a tiny flinch, Lusaki squeezed her eyes shut. She opened a single eyelid when Opal spoke. The knife. Lusaki opened both eyes and looked up at Opal as she stepped back. She then grinned. "So what are we going to do?" she asked happily, as if nothing happened.

|COME ONE. BEG ALREADY|
Frustration shrouded Opal's gaze. She will never learn. So, shaking her head to relieve tension, she stepped back further, more into the clearing, and drew a breath. Exhaled. "We'll do more speed. You can't learn self-defense without being quick enough to perform it." she responded, clearing assuming self-defense would satisfy the girl.

I thought we just went over this! Opal thought with obvious annoyance. Grinding her teeth, she shook her head. "Like what? I'm teaching you what will keep you safe. It's fun when you decide to let it be so."

(okay, *deep breath*, here I go!)
A small pause. Lusaki was thinking of an assertive way to explain "I know but I wanted the training to be how to fight and not just how to run away..." Lusaki said carefully, slowly. She didn't really want to provoke Opal so that something unpleasant happened. Lusaki looked up at Opal, waiting for a reaction. She had felt her annoyance. Perhaps Opal would be further annoyed. Yea, that sounded about right, considering other times Lusaki had interacted with the half-bloods.

Opal's face went from complete frustration to utter respect. She had felt the same way - and still did - when she was younger. The urge to fight, to know your tricks inside and out and to blight through a war as though you were fighting turtles. To be strong and fierce and brave and to never turn your back on a chance. "I'll train you as you want, as that was my deal," The assassin girl responded in a very similar tone. "I will warn you thought: It will be brutal. The training, difficult. You will hold the scars you make forever. Can you live with that?"

Lusaki had a thoughtful face on, her mind gears starting to roll. Could she live with brutal training? Could she live with battle scars that weren't from battle? What if they made her ugly? How would Opal train her? Would she pretty much beat her up? One could clearly see each thought popping up in Lusaki's head, and Lusaki tried to answer them herself. All that thinking seriously hurt her brain. "Alright." Lusaki said without any deeper thought. "I'll try it."
(look what Lusa's got herself into...)

Opal nodded, then considered how she would train someone so young. "Speed is important. Think fast, attack fast," Opal paused, picking up a stick and plucking the twigs from it then bouncing it in her hand to test it's weight and size. She tossed it towards Lusaki, then grinned in a half-sneaky, half-regretful way. "React fast." That said, she gave little notice as she, not as fast as usual, withdrew her bo staff from her back holster and aimed a light but fast side-lash to Lusaki's ankle. It wouldn't be hard enough to break it, but really was like a review for what they had been training in last time. Defend yourself, Lusa.

(wats a bo staff?)
Lusaki dropped the stick. SHe picked it up as the staff came to Lusaki. Lusaki immediantly started to wack the staff away, but it hit her (I'm assuming this is the speed a ball is thrown at a swimming pool) and sent a bit of a dink to Lusaki, as this was her ankle we're talking about, and ankles are bony. Of course Lusaki just laughed, since it was a mistake and Lusaki liked to laugh at her own mistakes.

Confused, Opal gave her a funny look, but didn't question the seemingly simple-minded girl. Instead, she just attempted another side-whack at Lusaki's hip, then a second towards her head, slower, just in case. Come one! Think!!

Lusaki immediately tried whacking the side wack away, and in fact she kinda suceeded. The one on her was easy, she just moved out of the way with her stick as a shield. Lusaki then pointed the stick at Opal.
