Mixed chatter. Rows of seats with a clear isle leading to the door, where students entered one at a time. The posters had seemed to do a good job. Diana expected that one of the reasons so many students came was because they hadn't been to a concert ever, or even maybe just in many many years. After all, the HBES had started scanning crowds for half-bloods, so it wasn't likely any of them had been to one. Maybe just saw one on TV, but other than that, she doubted it. Dee peeked out from a tiny crack in the curtains, chewing her bottom lip. The theme of the concert had been hope, and she was sure that was also something that had drawn so many in. That and her mini performance the day she had arrived. Diana's lings ached with the desperation to sing, boosted from her nervousness to perform. It wasn't like she hadn't before; she was just.. nervous. It would be a huge possibility that the assassins would come. Why not? Get they're attention? Yeah. Exactly. The white-haired girl drew a deep breath, hummed her scales, gulped down some water. She wore a long white dress with black effects to the hem, the low cut in the back allowing her large white wings to tuck into her back, feathers twitching with nervous excitement. Long white hair had been curled slightly and pinned up carefully in a detailed, perfect style. Her makeup was simple, just a smokey-eye, light red lipstick, and enough concealer to hide the few blemishes she had. Diana looked over her shoulder at Lily Ribero, her adopted sister and stage assistant, who she assumed was making last adjustments to the sound system and other details. She blinked, fondly, glad to have help. She didn't have a band yet, unfortunately, which made the performance just that much more nerve-wrecking. "Okay. You're fine. You're good. Just great. You've practiced, you're talented, you'll do fine," she whispered, vainly trying to offer herself moral support. Peeking out again, she scanned the room. That's disappointing, Dee thought, pursing her lips. Not even the student council member, Claire Blakely, is here. Shrugging, she took a step back in white 2-inch heels, took another breath, and waited for the rest of the cafeteria to fill up, taking a seat in a chair out of the way. |Okay, here's how this is gonna work. A few songs will be sung, people go nuts, etc. Then, after like, the fourth song? - Something exciting will happen. Shh. Just.. only post when it's necessary, all posts must be well-done, and if anyone tries to mess around with the climax, they're character is gonna have some issues. Trust me. ENJOY!|

(NOOO I WANNA SPOIL EVERYTHING NOW)
Lily had a microphone just for any additional singing the half-bird of paradise had to do. Backstage was dark, and it felt like the darkness was hugging her. The girl was a little stage-shy when it came to singing, so she liked to be upstage or behind the scenes. Lily, her golden brown hair in a ponytail, looked at Diana. She smiled with a double thumbs up, then looked away to focus on the sounds and settings. Managing the stage was hard work.
Lily had sneaked a few looks (in bird form) around the audience. Nobody was here at the moment, but she knew someone ought to come soon. She thought she heard something about people going and listening to the "new" singer's voice. Lily mentally blushed. Her sister was so beautiful today, and was such a talented singer with amazing ideas. If Lily failed to get the music right, she would mess Dee Dee up, and she didn't want to do it. It was rather silent outside, but Lily ignored that and decided to doodle on some paper as a pastime. They'll be here soon, it's five minutes until the show. Not that short of a period of time.... Just focus on memorizing all this stuff.... Lily then realized she forgot the order of the songs, and her heart seemed to skip a beat.
"Dee Dee!" she whispered. "What's the order of the songs again?"
(is 242 words okay? XD)

A black-winged half-blood male with a warm face and a single scratch across his shoulder, hidden under his shirt, descended to the entrance of the academy. He looked around, shrugged, and tucked his large wings away before ducking into the room. The room was pretty full, but Zal managed to claim two seats in the second row, in the middle of the isle. His head swung around, looking for Jess, excitement tingling in his fingers. He hadn't seen Jess in some time, and was more than excited, especially at such an event as a concert. So Zalman waited, trying to pick out Jess King in the crowd.

So there was a concert? Lusaki had bought tickets.
Lusaki wore normal casual-wear because she was just that type of person. The girl did nothing special with her black hair since it was too short anyways. As the concert beginning was nearing, the half-bat flew in at a moderate pace and sat in the front, in a random seat. She never went to a concert, so this would be her first one. Lusaki was excited, though from Lily's reports concerts seemed a little boring. But Lusaki was excited anyways.
As she looked at the stage, she took everything in. It was now clear of any thing-a-ma-jigs like some chairs or something, and rather clean. The stage lights had moved, Lusaki noted. It was rather exciting to know that Lusaki, oh little Lusaki, was going to see such a thing, a presentation of someone singing bravely about hope. How could Diana be brave enough to sing in front of so many people? What was the means of this technology? How would Diana project her voice? Would she use that ball on a stick thing? Lusaki was rather curious, but still happy. She just hoped Opal and Marie hadn't come in hopes to uh... kill.

(okay SUnny you asked for this)
Jake, wearing formal wear, hoped his brother had come to this kan-sert. His hair was groomed (that took hours) nicely, and his nails actually clipped (that took hours too). The half-lion had ran his way into the cafeteria, but then slowed to a walk when he got into the third row. Jake was rather excited about this kan-sert. He had been to these events before, and they were quite pleasing to the ears and the eyes. He could listen to a musical concert, where the music seemed to lull him to sleep while still forcing his eyes open. Or Jake could watch a dance concert, where the graceful moves of the dancers seemed to make Jake a little wiggly.
Jake sat down, fingering the fur of his long tail. Diana was a singer, apparently, and Jake would like to hear her singing. The theme was hope, even though Jake didn't really know why. He then yawned and started letting his mind wander off into the times of Africa, playing with his lion cub friend and trying to beat her in races and pretend fights. Jake smiled a bit, remembering how victorious he felt when he successfully shook her off his body.

A concert huh? This was going to be interesting. Shawn, a 19-year old dork, boyfriend of the principal, a grizzly-bear half-blood, was sitting towards the back of the cafeteria. Since it was a concert and not an awards assembly, Shawn decided to wear something simple. Seeing that many of the students had come to the concert, the young adult wondered why Claire had not come. Well, she was probably off dealing with the assassins, and probably some other stuff. She was the principal of the academy, after all. But Claire was half the reason why Shawn came to the concert, so that he could see her again. It's been awhile, hasn't it? Sigh, she must hate me by now...

|I didn't clarify, but the concert is free >.< Everything is free at the academy|
A fluffy fur-ball ducked into the cafeteria, hustled up the walls, and peered out over the crowed. Her tail twitched in nervous excitement, and she make a little chattering noise as she leaned over the edge of a tiny platform up against the top of the wall. There was quite a number of people, and it made her a little queezy. But she ha come for Jack King's sake, hoping they could catch up, that she could see him after so long. Satisfied with the observation, she darted back down the wall, scaling down the grooved wall, and scampered across the backs of the chairs to a seat in the second row from the back. Brenda shifted back into a normal girl, blinked contacts back into place, which she had just taken to using. They still bugged her every once in a while, but she was getting accustomed. Taking a seat, legs crossed self-consciously, the brown-haired girl swiveled her head around once or twice, then sat back, fluffy squirrel tail in her lap.

"Well, you look fancy!" Ben teased, flopping into a seat beside his twin brother, Jake, trying to elbow the boy in a brotherly-fashion. The African boy's long tail twitched in excitement, and his ears pressed down playfully. In a mocking, baby voice, he murmured, "Aww.. Little Jakey-Wakey is all purdy to impress the gurls!!" Ben batted his eyes, pursed his lips, broke out laughing. He heard the concert would be good, and unlike Jake, he knew why the theme was hope; The assassins. His friend, Sapphire, had mentioned the two murderous assassins, 'Shadow' being the most dangerous, according to her, roaming the academy. It still sent the infrequent chill down his spine when he was alone. But, Ben stuck with being pretty sure he could handle them, as long as he 'could talk to them and make them his friends'. He had no idea who Sapphire was in reality. So, Ben turned his attention to the stage, the heavy satin, red curtains falling over the wall, blocking anything that might be happening on the other side. A permanent smile was plastered on his face, and his brown eyes twinkled with joy. Ben just wore jeans and a long-sleeved blue shirt. Nothing too fancy. It wasn't like Diana was a celebrity, anyway.

Diana winced, slightly concerned. She should know this! She hissed under her breath, rubbing her collarbone. "Wolf, Magnetic, In Your Arms, Brave, Blank Space, then Nobody's Perfect. You sure you're up to this? I can just do the entire thing, you know? Just cut out Wolf?" Dee licked her lips, nearly gagging on the faint taste of the lipstick and the nervous unease she felt. Needing something to do, Diana stood, made sure the cords connected to the microphone were in place, ears alert, wings pressing against her back fearfully. All's good. Why am I nervous? She thought, trying to calm herself. Her anxiety retorted with well, you've never sung in front of this many people. Duh. Dee rolled her eyes, more a stressed let-down than an annoyed one.

Xiomara walked into the cafeteria and her wings twitched nervously. She had to spread out her wings every once in a while. Her wings tucked in close as she walked around the cafeteria, looking for a good spot to sit. If I sit in front of anyone, my wings might be a distraction or they might be in the way. I will make my way to the very back. She was so considerate of others. A little bit too considerate for her liking. That's how she would get walked all over by the consumers at the top of the food chain.
Bullies or however you want to interpret that. Xiomara walked slowly and picked out her seat carefully. Her wings began to settle down when she took her seat in the corner of the back row. It was odd to see her come to an event. She wouldn't usually go unless a friend of hers was going. Or, if she really didn't care what other people thought of her presence. Most people didn't notice her, anyway. That was probably her fault. She always stayed her distance and went to school to learn. Xiomara sighed to herself and looked at the stage, wondering when the concert would start.
Maybe in just a few minutes... I like it when the lights dim for a concert or movie. Nobody can see me, really, and I have a seat close to the exit.

That quick list (in which Lily hastily scribbled on paper) quickly replenished Lily's horrible memory.
Lily noticed Diana's anxiety, with the typical licking lips, the typical check-when-I-already-did check, and the typical try-not-to-act-stressed-out action. Lily giggled then silently turned into a bird of paradise. She flew up in front of Diana (I'm assuming she's not right in front of the curtain) and tweeted/whispered, "Dee Dee's got this! She's a talented singer, and singing for her should be fun, not work." Lily then flew back to her seat and turned back to human, acting as if nothing had happened.
Two more minutes until Lily had to manage the lights and make them dim. She turned into a bird and peaked a bit out of the curtains. People had filed in, and Lily noticed Zoey. Lily mentally smiled. She flew back in and turned into human, warm shades of happiness rising in Lily. She wasn't nervous- she was excited to see how this would turn out. It was strange to be the one not nervous for a show, watching someone she looked up to actually nervous.
Lily smiled, then moved herself to the light managing area. It was going to start soon, she knew it.

Not going to a concert is the last thing Jack would do. So he decided to go to the concert. Jack brought out one of his favorite outfits to wear, which he almost never wore. But Jack wore it when he was alone, regretting all the horrible things he had done. It gave Jack hope that he could be a good person. As he walked into the cafeteria, he took a quick look around to find either Logan, Brenda, or Shadow. Jack really didn't need to see Logan or Shadow at the moment. Now was a time where he could finally be stress-free, lay back, and enjoy the show. Hopefully. Jack fished through the audience, and finally found who he was looking for. "Hey Brenda." Jack said coolly. Ah, it's been so long...

Brenda jumped a little with the mention of her name, brown eyes cast around like a laser sweeper to find the familiar voice. "Jack!..." She breathed, hand to her heart, eyes kind. She'd heard about the injuries he carried, and was scared to death about him. The staff wouldn't let anyone into the hospital as long as she tried to see him, and soon she had just given up, not knowing that it was okay for visitors to come. The half-bloods stood, tried to wrap her arms around Jack and squeeze him lightly, her face against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. "I missed you.." She whispered, her eyes closed. Brenda pulled back after a few moments, attempted a quick kiss, and sat back down, patting an empty chair beside her.

Diana stepped back as her adopted sister darted in front of her face. The bird tweeted a few oddly-formed human words, and Dee titled her head confused. The half-blood figured it was just about her nervousness, and rolled her eyes, stuck out her tongue, and decided to wait a few more minutes. There were already a few people coming in. Diana saw a squirrel up on the wall, lion half-bloods, and so on. Her unease suddenly was replaced with excitement and a tiny bit of healthy fear. Diana smiled, stepped back, and rehearsed her introduction in her head. The lights will dim. The song Wolf will start. Lily and I will both step forward, singing our parts. The crowd will cheer. I'll introduce us. Then we'll go on with the show...

Lily smiled and setted the lights so that the cafeteria would go dark. Slowly, but surely, the stage lights turned on, illuminating the stage with their white light. She moved to the sound controlling area and grabbed a remote, which she had traveled around (I'm gonna make up this part, if that's okay with you) to ask to design. The person she found was a genius, though repaying was sort of hard. But Lily was here now. She looked at Diana, a small smile on her face. She was ready to start the music on Diana's cue. She stepped next to her half sister, her wings folded against her body. This was exciting. The show was starting.

Jack was surprised by the sudden hug, but soon accepted it by hugging Brenda back. "I missed you.." He smiled, and said, "I'm sorry I haven't seen you in so long."
Brenda's kiss was soft, and yet quick at the same time. Jack wanted to savor it as long as he could, but he noticed the lights were dimming; the show was starting. Jack sat down next to his girlfriend, and asked, "If you could be any animal shift, besides your own, what would you want to be?" to try to make conversation.

Brenda smiled warmly, shrugged. "I like being half-squirrel. I don't know. Um..." She didn't get the chance to answer, because slowly, the lights were dimming themselves down to a hazy glow. Whoever else is coming better soon. It would be embarrassing to come in during the concert. Brenda shifted in her seat, put a finger to her lips for silence. She then directed her attention to the stage, waiting patiently.

You wouldn't find Cody at one of these things. Too noisy, too crowded. But, with all the chaos going on outdoors he didn't want to be left out. The thought crossed his mind that perhaps the assassins would strike here next but....no, that'd be a change in their approach. They were picking off the stragglers, the ones who went in the forest, not the big crowds. Right?
Yeah.
The white-haired half-blood slipped in while nobody was looking, or maybe they were looking, either way he was good at not being noticed. He had also wanted to be closer to the exit in the back, and he didn't want to be seen, so that's where he went. He took a seat as the lights began to dim, bracing himself for loud clapping and noises and all manner of things he didn't like.

Jess came in just moments before the lights dimmed. Originally she wasn't planning on attending the concert at all, probably just working out at the gym instead. But her need to see Zalman grew, as did her hope that he would be at the concert. So she ditched her gym bag, got a black dress, got a pair of black flats, curled her hair, and left for the concert. "Zal?" She scanned the room, trying to see him in the now dimmer light. Is he here? Maybe I should just go. Getting dolled up like this probably wasn't worth it. She scanned the room, palms sweating, getting a little nervous and afraid that he hadn't attended the concert. She would be extremely upset, and that wouldn't be a pretty sight, because if she cried her makeup would streak down her face in front of everyone. Talk about major embarrassment.

|Now that everyone is here, we can start | Zalman heard his nickname whispered and automatically rose into the air a touch to see who had said it, the sweet familiar voice. He spotted the blonde hair, and though the girl was quite different from what he was used to, Zal couldn't forget that face. Beckoning Jess over, Zalman sat back down, as one of the half-bloods had hissed very cat-like at him to sit down. Zal tucked his wings away, jerked his head in a hurry up! kinda of way, patting the seat next to him.

The lights dimmed, Diana took a breath, handed Lily a cordless microphone. There was a stand out there already, laying down, so they just had to pick it up and put their microphones in as they started singing. Diana nodded to Lily for the music, her fingers shivering as they wrapped around the smooth cylinder of her own microphone. She threw a last nervous glance, put on a smile, and pressed the button to draw back the curtains. The satin started falling away in waves, and Diana took a step forward at the tempo of the song like Lily and she had practiced. She started her part of the duet, her voice trailing in the low notes and the medium ones, all over country music, the lights falling on her white hair and white dress and white heels. Diana reached the stage, about a meter or two from the edge of the stage, and as her part ended, lifted the microphone stand up and slid it in so she could sing without holding it.

Lily grinned and started up the music, and it rang through the stage beautiful and clear. As she listened to Diana's fantastical singing, she got off her stool and waited. As it came to an end, Lily walked in with a smile and took her place next to Diana, her heart thumping wildly, the music echoing within her. Lily then sang assuming Diana was accompanying her her part, loud and clear, trying to ignore the looks of anyone. The lights were quite bright, and Lily had to avoid looking up to high or else she would probably lose her vision. The singing continued, and Lily felt calmer now. She ended with a clear last verse then stopped singing to catch her breath in the rest. A thrilling memory came to Lily of singing in the elementary school show, and Lily grinned. (Sunny has my permission to powerplay me XD)

As Lily and Diana sang verse after verse, the white-haired nineteen year-old felt better and better. It was what she enjoyed, favored, loved: singing. And their voices melded into a true song, the tempo working it's way into Diana's heart. She rested her hands on her microphone, sang with all her heart, and with the end of the show, smiled to Lily, looked out to the crowed, and hoped they were impressed with the introduction song.

Jack looked up after Brenda, and saw that the lights were practically off. He saw something move in his peripheral vison, and saw that the cutains were opening. "Looks like the show's starting." said Jack to himself. To try to humor Brenda, he decided to say, "Ooh! I'm so excited!" in a slightly high-pitched voice. Technically, Jack was excited. The theme was hope, and that was something he needed. All of the academy needed it, really. Because of the assassins, Animalia Academy was losing hope fast. This girl better give the academy hope. *** After the song, Jack clapped politely, instead of his usual, "I'm too cool for this so I don't need to clap clap.". He was impressed, for he had never heard someone so young sing so well. Plus, she fufilled his request of hope.

Xiomara sat in the back row and blinked her blue eyes. There was a boy that sat close by. Her eyes grew soft as she looked at Cody. Hm... I wonder if he likes it better back here for the same reasons as I do. It would only be natural that she would find someone else sitting in the back row with her close to the exit. She replayed her thoughts about scooting over and talking to him.
The lights began to dim and that made her think it was a sign for her to stay put where she was. Of course, she was finding any excuse not to converse, although, she really needed to socialize. Xiomara was getting lonely and she didn't have any friends.
"I must look pretty pathetic sitting by myself..." she muttered and looked to the stage, relaxing back in the chair and watching the performance. The song was inspiring and quite smooth. Diana had a beautiful voice to begin with. Xiomara had to admit that she was jealous of the talented girl. She clapped her hands gently together at the end of the song and smiled.

A little disappointed that Jake Rhodin didn't respond, Ben shrugged and let himself sing into the darkness. He gave his full attention, gaze flickering from Diana to Lily and back. They were both extremely talented, and Lily seemed extremely good for someone of her age. He was tempted to start a standing ovation, but decided not, as it was an opening performance, so that would just be odd. So, Ben just clapped energetically, smiling widely, and waited patiently for the performance to continue.

Diana's heart filled with extreme pride as the students started clapping. For me, she confirmed, her eyes twinkling in the spotlights, her smile wide and heart beating, lungs stretching, beckoning air. And Lily. She was amazing. Better than ever before. As the clapping died down, Dee clicked the microphone back on, smiled to the crowed, and laughed. "Sorry," Her voice began, bouncing through the air crisp and delightful. "I.. I first want to thank, recognize, and congratulate my good friend and, in some ways, adopted sister, Lily." She gestured toward the younger girl, smiled, waited a few moments. "And I'd like to thank you all for coming out to see us. "I know we've all been shaken up by Shadow and Marie. The least we can do is hope. And in memory of those many we have lost, I'd like to ask that we donate a few minutes of silence for their memory." Again, Diana turned off the microphone. She stepped back, bowed her head, closed her eyes, and thought of those that they lost, pain, regardless of her relations to the people, dancing in her heart and mind.

As the clapping went on, Lily felt this thing bubble in her. It had happened once before, but this feeling seemed to want to make Lily explode. She restrained herself from ruffling her feathers in distinct pride, but just smiled and waved, trying to keep her breath steady. This much clapping tended to make Lily feel strange.
Lily, unsure of what to do because she had never honored anyone (what???) before, just smiled, put on a somber face, and copied, bowing her head and squeezing her eyes shut. Lily had no idea who died, so there was practically nobody to honor, but Lily imagined what the person who died was. A half-blood, yes. Maybe half eagle. With beautiful golden-grown wings. A man. Oh and golden brown hair with hazel eyes. Maybe Diana's age. He was nice. Had a good heart. Was brave. But he was impulsive. Yes, impulsive. She opened her eyes a crack, just to know when to stop.

|COME ON! Lusaki Yomo, Jake Rhodin, Shawn White, @xiomara, Jack King, @cody, Jess King and everyone else! GET YO POSTING GOING| A few minutes passed. Diana drew a breath, nodded, and stepped back up to the microphone, gazing across her peers. Turning on the mic, she smiled. "Thanks again everyone. And don't loss hope. "That song was Lily's choice. It's called Wolf, by First Aid Kit. The next one is of my choice - The two of us worked together to pick the songs, you see - the song is Magnetic by Jessie J. It's one of my newer favorites. I hope you enjoy, like all our songs." Dee smiled, stepped back, microphone in hand, standing to the side of the stand. Nodding to Lily, she waited patiently for the music to start, taking breaths, preparing.
