Sapphire O'Connor He was trying to ignore what had happened so recently. The concert going well, music hastily mending everyone's courage, and then the irony of the assassin's presence known. It had terrified him in some ways, and all Ben really wanted to do was to relax. Surrounded by trees clasped by shadows, and plants pillowing him, Ben laid in the afternoon sun, his coffee-colored skin dominating in the lush grass. It was soothing. His blue polo shirt tight around his waist, and jeans allowing his tail to escape somehow. He wasn't expecting company, nor the most beautiful girl he knew.

| Link fail | | Coffee skin? Confused on what color coffee you're talking about... There's this kind of coffee, and there's this kind of coffee, and so on... | Sapphire was very lazy that afternoon. She didn't want to injure anyone, especially following the events of the concert. But she didn't want to just walk around the school. She wanted somewhere private, somewhere half-blood free. But the school was filled with half-bloods, so what would she do? On the other hand, she was surprisingly not wearing her assassin-wear. Her outfit of the day was a teal dress with white heels. She turned the corner and saw... Ben. He was laying down, and he seemed a little dazed to her. He stood out among the green grass because of his blue polo shirt and jeans. But she didn't care. She liked him, even if he didn't like him back, and she might even go as far as to risk her life for him one day, if it goes that serious. "Um, hey," Sapphire grinned, a little shy. She gazed at him like there was no other thing in the world.

|Lol there's not really 'different' kinds of coffee. Just depends on what you put in it.| |AND rotfl Most of you're links fail too | The boy's eyes flickered open like an old lightbulb. "Sapphire?" He murmured, wondering why she looked so... Beautiful. Siting up further, he stretched, tail flicking playfully. "You're fancy. Not planning on being murdered today?" He smiled weakly. Really, he was nervous. He had no dea who the assassins were, and what if it was someone he knew? Regardless, I'll live to tell the tale. I hope. Scooting over so she had space, Ben drew his legs up a bit, smiling as always.

She smiled. He was certainly cute and perky. And clueless. Did he have any hint it was her after what she had said to Jake at the concert? Apparently not, but the less he knew, the better.
"Hey, if I am murdered, at least I'll look good for it!" Sapphire laughed and flirtly twirled her hair with her index finger. "Mind if I sit down?" She walked closer to him, secretly hoping he'd say yes.

"Do I look like a girl?" He teased, patting the ground beside him. "I'm not a woman, nor very flexible, nor did I take over the academy. I don't own this place. You can sit, of course!" Too much talking for his liking. What am I saying? Nervousness crept along his hands. What if I screw this up? Then what friends will I have?

She grinned and sat down next to Ben. Wow, this was a little awkward. Sitting next to her crush, she didn't really know how to react. What was she supposed to say? Was she supposed to make small talk? Was she supposed to compliment him? Was she supposed to kiss him? She hadn't experienced love before, except for her parents, which was different. And what made her even more nervous was the fact that she didn't know if he liked her back. That made her go almost insane- she couldn't really stand all the growing curiosity inside her.
"Wow, this weather is amazing, isn't it?" Sapphire grinned and looked at him. "Fairly warm, but that could be just me."

"Are you kidding!?" Ben joked. "It's freezing!" He knew as well as anyone that Africa was much different from the Academy, and often used it in his jokes. "Anyway, how have you been coping? With the whole Marie-Shadow thing? Everyone's got their panties in a knot right now - Is that the expression?" Ben's English was, granted, still a tiny bit.... rough. He hadn't ironed out the kinks yet, though he did still do well with it.

She laughed so hard her stomach hurt. She was pretty sure he was from Africa, and Africa had a big difference in temperatures. "For sure!" She said in between laughs.
But her laughing slowed and eventually stopped when the Marie-Shadow topic came up. What was she supposed to say? How would he react if he knew she was an assassin? It would demolish any chance of him liking her at all.
"Well... It hurts that people are so ruthless as to do this, hurting other people that did nothing wrong in the first place." Sapphire shrugged. "Honestly, I'm not really sure, but it's a little bit of a sore subject for me."

Ben nodded, carefully, admiring her beautiful face, her serious composure, cracked loyalties that he couldn't read but seemed to show in her voice. She's more wonderful than any of the lionesses back home. "Everyone is so lost..." He watched her, his lips slowly curling into a grin So Ben just smiled, maybe oddly, and rested on an elbow. "Moyo kuumiza haiwezi kupona na maumivu zaidi. Kama wewe ni kuumiza. Nami bandage moyo wako," He whispered in his native tongue, then smiled a touch wider.

"I agree."
Those two words escaped her lips without her even recognizing she had said them. She then believed everyone was lost... Especially herself. Her eyes dropped from Ben to her white heels. If anything she was lost the most. After escaping from her own house, she hadn't known where to go. And she had chosen the route to weaponry and hurting others.
She heard what Ben said, but she didn't understand it at all. Sapphire spoke no foreign languages, and wasn't planning on it either. "What did you say?" She smiled, genuinely curious, keeping hope, and looked up at him again.

Benedict - Ben, he preferred - laughed, nodding to show he understood. "It translates, roughly, to A broken heart can not heal with more pain. If you are hurting, I will heal your heart. Kuonyesha mimi tu unataka msaada wangu. Just show me you want my help." He smiled, more with... love.. than with kindness. Still studying Sapphire's face, he licked his lips, that felt suddenly dry, and took a deep breath. Ben had to force himself to look away so he wasn't staring. "We all have pain. I just find that sometimes you can't really know if you can love someone unless you can know them..." And then he leaned over and tried to plant a careful kiss on Sapphire's lips. He didn't really know what it was fueled by. He had hardly known her that long, had no reason to believe she wasn't truly an assassin as Marie had hinted, no reason to care for her among any other woman. Except that Ben loved her. He couldn't place the word. It was just... a feeling. Unconqurable. Ben leaned back, embarrassed and not at the same time. "I'm sorry."

A broken heart cannot heal with more pain. Sapphire nodded to show her understanding. The words repeated in her head, and they felt as if they would never end. She thought about the phrase and considered it true; after all, if a heart was broken, how would more grief help it?
But all thoughts ceased entirely when Ben kissed her.
Her mind raced, and she felt dizzy, and her face felt hot. She knew she was blushing, nothing could really cover that up. Her life was changed forever and she had no words to describe it. The word "crazy" was all she could pull from her thoughts.
"No, it's okay." She laughed nervously and grinned. She felt courageous, willing to take a chance and risk anything. Sapphire leaned towards Ben.
"In fact, I really like you."
With that, she attempted to throw her arms around his neck and kiss him. Her only worry was that she was going too fast, but even that worry seemed a little dim. Nothing could break her confidence now.

"Oh, good. I don't-" But Ben found himself cut short by Sapphire and her lips. Soft and warm and... he couldn't have later described the moment. Having her near, his hand curling around in an attempt to hold the back of her head, kissing her calmly and with a true kindness.... He just felt right. "Who said I liked you?" Ben joked between a kiss. "I could be all about the bed." He laughed at that, a dirty, cruel joke, and fell back into another attempted kiss, trying to wrap his arm around Sapphire's waist to draw her closer.

| Ahh! Sorry for the late reply! |
She allowed him to hold the back of her head as she kissed him more. This was all she wanted when she met Ben- to be in love with him, and she felt her wish had come true now.
She found his joke a little inappropriate and offensive but, well, whatever. It was just... Whatever. She didn't care. Sapphire really didn't care. She just grinned and chuckled a little before wrapping her arms around him a little tighter. She allowed him to wrap his arm around her waist, and she attempted to bring her hands to his neck, trying to run her fingers through his soft hair.

The lion half-blood felt a chill down his as Sapphire's fingers ran up into his shaggy blonde hair. He let her, and kissed his lover with just a few more seconds, then pulled away, but still trying to stay near her. "Now," he said, as though they were simply at a business meeting. "I want to know you. The real you. Question for question? I ask a question, honest reply, then you do the same for me?"

She tried as hard as humanly possible not to let her eyes widen and not to let herself run away. What if he found out the truth about her? Then again, she didn't have to tell the truth. Sure, it was honesty. But honesty can be lost and trust can always be broken.
"Alright." Sapphire agreed half-heartidly. She didn't have many questions to ask him, and she hoped he didn't have many questions to ask her either.

Smiling brighter, he nodded and his tail flicked in amusement. "What's you're favorite color?" he asked, joking around, assuming Sapphire had been expecting a large personal question. "I know it's a big one, but you can chicken out on it if you need."

She burst out laughing. Ben's humor always cheered her up when she needed it. It was one of the things she liked about him- his wonderful sense of humor she probably couldn't live without. Because really, Sapphire's sense of humor was about as good as a rock.
"Well, I like pale colors, like a baby blue, and I've always kind of favored light yellow." Sapphire smiled and asked him a question. "What's a quality you favor most in your friends?"

"Friends?" Ben looked genuinly confused. "I've only been at the academy a week or two. Other than you, I don't really know anyone..." he kind of looked at the ground, his eyebrows furrowed. His thoughts darted back to when he was a cub, playing with his adopted sister. She had been so nice, but then he made the mistake of becoming too human. And she hadn't really talked to him after he started shifting into his animal form. The lioness had grown up to lead a group, he had heard. But he figured she probably wouldn't even remember him as a friend, but as a monster. Blinking away the fuzzy memories, he turned his eyes back to Sapphire and grinned. "Um... I guess I value honesty a lot. And selflessness. And joking. But you want one answer, right?" Ben thought long and hard. "Fairness."

"That's okay if you don't really know anyone yet. I just meant in general, I guess." Sapphire noticed Ben's eyes drop and hoped her question hadn't offended him or brought back any bad memories. "You... You can skip the question if you want to."
Then he answered, and she figured nothing bad had happened. His grin she felt was a silly grin was planted on his face and she was tempted to laugh. But she listened to his answer and kept it in her mind. She wanted to be the friend he valued most, and now that he had just said what he valued in a friend, she had a slight advantage over anyone that would become his friend.
But some of the qualities troubled her. Honesty and fairness in particular. How could she be honest with him at all since she was an assassin? Her time at the academy was almost entirely built on lies. The name Marie was a lie. Being a half-blood was a lie. Coming from France was a lie and losing her accent was a lie, though she had only told that lie to Zalman, and that lie was supposed to help her blend in. Though blending in would be extremely hard for her now.
"Your turn," Sapphire smiled, shoving away her thoughts. "Ask a question."

Ben continued smiling and he muttered a faint, "Uhhhmmm.." as he stared at the sky, in a trance, thinking. It wasn't that he didn't have any questions - just that he didn't know which one to pick. Should I ask some that will reveal a lot? Or should I give her the chance to ask more personal information about me first? Thoughts swarmed his head and he almost felt dizzy with the building curiosity and worry. So at last, he decided to ask his big question later. "How about... - Who do you wish you could get to forgive you and why?" He smiled lighter, as it was still a serious question. "It's definitely not two questions hidden in one." He tried to keep a straight face through his sarcasm.

She smiled a little and thought. Was it about time she told him she was an assassin? Nah. Maybe she could give him a little teaser trailer for what she was going to tell him later? Nah. Maybe she could use some humor.
"I wish that you would forgive me," She grinned and attempted to wrap her arms around Ben's neck and plant a kiss on his soft lips. She pulled away and said, "Because I can't control myself and I love you, even if I don't know you well."

Sapphire's mention about being unable to control herself made him passionate and chuckle before leaning over and returning a kiss. He couldn't possibly know if she was refering to being an assassin or just not being able to control her love for him. So he jumped to the better side of the contemplation. "I love you, too," Ben murmured, then pulled away. "It's you're turn, unless you're getting bored." He looked up and noticed the sun was starting to dip down, but he didn't care to much. We'll go soon before the assassins come out.
