Claire Blakely@littleredtomato Alice dragged herself into the hospital, near tears. (is there a bell on the front desk?) Using all her might, she tapped the bell on the desk, hoping to attract a nurse, or a doctor. "H-hello? I-I really n-need someone...r-r-right now..." Alice asked desperately. She noticed her shoulder was bleeding heavily, so Alice grabbed what she could, a few tissues, and dabbed the excess blood. (D: this got dark quickly.) (INJURIES: A deep cut in her left shoulder, and a cut in her right foot that goes all the way through her foot. D: jeez wtc happened to you alice)

The other patients were asleep as far as Claire could tell. She had actually gotten some sleep the night before, and felt much better. Lovino can handle anything that happens. He's a good nurse/doctor. Why is it though that things exciting always happen when Claire's not around? Never mind that, Claire hustled over to the desk, apparently before Lovi. One glance and she knew there would be some work to be done. Again. "Lovino! Ready a room, would you?" The girl didn't look in that bad of shape. If they were lucky, the apparent knife wound might have gone between the toe bones. If anything, Alice would just have some nasty scars. "Just take a seat, sweety, I'll help you in a minute." As she said so, Claire grabbed an ibuprofen - two - from a cabinet above the counter and filled a plastic cup with water, then quickly handing it to Alice. "Drink all the water."

Lovino had just made it to the waiting room before Claire asked him to get a room ready. For a second he stared at Alice- he'd recognized her, what had happened? But then he shook his head and whipped around throwing a frustrated, "I know, I know!" over his shoulder.
Only two rooms were being taken up at the moment, one by that winged guy- Damian - and the other by his brother. He'd come in once in a while and check to make sure everything was okay, check the machines, heart-rate, sometimes have a small chat, then went back to the waiting room, but this time he'd been about to check again, which is why he'd been late.
Muttering to himself, though nonetheless working quickly, the human popped into one of the rooms (he had helped organize all of them to be ready for usage in his spare time, he liked cleaning) flicked on the lights, then grabbed a stretcher, which might be overkill, though he'd seen Alice's foot bleeding. He didn't run, though definitely did not lag behind as he sped towards the two girls in the waiting room.
"Another attack?"

Alice noticed Claire, and nodded at her directions. She dragged herslef over to the nearest chair, and sat down. Alice popped the pills into her mouth, and drank the whole cup. Sure, it hurt to drink all that water, but it was going to help her. "I know, I know!" Alice sat straight up, as she heard a familiar voice. A bit of an accent...Male...I only know two guys...Oh! It has to be Lovino! She looked around, and saw him with a stretcher.
"Another attack?" Alice wiped away her tears, and nodded with a frown. As she looked at the stretcher, she wasn't absolutly sure on how to get on. Was someone going to help her? Could she get on herself? Well, no, to the last question. "I-uh...Can someone...?" asked Alice as she pointed to the stretcher, and soon to her foot.

A quick nod from Claire, and she offered a hand, jerking her head for Lovino to come and help. "One.. Two.. Three." With all the strength she could muster, Claire lifted Alice up, careful of her foot, then tried to shove a pillow under Alice's heal so it would be elevated to stop the blood from rushing to the injury and gushing everywhere.

Lovino silently nodded and came over to the two to help, somewhat surprised when unlike what he had expected, he hadn't really taken much of the weight. Well, Claire was a snow-leopard half-blood, but he was a guy? Alright, then, another reason to fear getting caught.
When Alice had been situated, Lovino started rolling the stretcher into the room he had just come out of, pointing to Claire with one hand which room they would use. The adrenaline rush was unexpected yet welcome- he wasn't used to this and would need all the energy and focus he could get.
"What's the first step? Stop the bleeding?" As much as Lovino hated asking for help he was still learning and was unsure of what to do.

"Yes, with a sterile and antiseptic-damped cloth," Claire instructed, ducking into the room a moment before the stretcher rolled in to wash her hands and throw on a pair of plastic gloves. As Lovino did whatever he was doing, Claire began work on preparing the X-ray machine - They'd need it to check if Alice's feet had any breaks.

Alice found the stretcher somewhat uncomfortable, but that shouldn't matter, for her injuries hurt much more. The rush towards a room was quite overwhelming, which made Alice want to say, "Whee!". But would you say whee in a hospital? No.
"I know I shouldn't be saying this, but shouldn't you give me anesthesia, so that I won't have to feel the procedure...?" asked Alice. The times of her reading through doctor's manuals were coming back to her, and this was basic stuff.

Claire was quick to respond. "You'll only need it if you broke a bone as well. Otherwise it's just deep stitches and tendon-tying. The medication I gave you should dull the pain, but if it's too much then I can give you anesthesia," She responded, setting the moving X-Ray machine over and carefully sliding away the pillow and replacing it with a metal board. After setting the timer for thirty seconds, she jerked her head for Lovino and herself to get out for the X-rays, handing Alice a pair of X-ray glasses.

Lovino nodded and followed Claire's instructions with a focused frown on his face. Gloves first, then start stopping the bleeding.
"This is probably going to sting," he muttered to Alice before moving the tissues out of the way of her shoulder wound (they were actually really not helpful) and dabbing with enough pressure and in such a way that he was cleaning effectively but not too harshly. He wouldn't have this job if he hadn't proven he was very good with using his hands. Lovi's frown deepened when he saw how much blood was still around the wounds.
Dangit, he didn't know how to work fast enough yet.
He had ignored the conversation between the two because it was distracting, but was paying enough attention to know to get out of the room before the x-ray.
"Nothing life threatening, right?" He doubted it, but he wanted to make sure.

"Oh, okay." said Alice as she got her answer. "This is probably going to sting," She nodded, and let the procedure go on. "N-nn..." muttered Alice under her breath. The antispetic did sting, but Alice knew ettiquete: Do not scream in pain in a hospital, unless it really hurts that much.
Alice put on the x-ray glasses Claire gave her, and waited to hear the results of the x-ray.'
(lol dunno what else to do)

A press of a button and a tone, high pitched, announced the production of the X-rays. "Not as far as I can tell," Claire responded, ducking back into the room. Her gaze flicked across the filmy print, grimacing only slightly at the very noticeable gash down Alice's foot, very cleanly cut, but thankfully, not piercing any bones. It's as though this Shadow girl doesn't want to cause too much pain, but wants to make a point, She thought, wondering what Alice had gotten into. "All's fine. Just a bit of stitching and tying - maybe an hour or two total," she decided, heading to a counter and preparing a precise needle with stitch-thread, an antiseptic cloth, and two tweezers. After rolling the x-ray machine away, Claire rolled a chair over and peered down at Alice's foot. "Lovino," Claire began, pointing to a cabinet with a tweezer, "Could you work on her shoulder?"

Good. It wasn't like Lovino cared or anything, he just wanted to make sure that nothing was permanent or too dangerous. Yeah. That's all. He followed Claire back into the room, nodding in agreement though she couldn't see, then pulled out the proper supplies and prepared to work.
Weirdly enough, he was still relying on his cooking experience and that's why he had learned so quickly. He memorized what operations he could in the small time he had by treating them like...new recipes. What you needed to use, what went where and when, it all fell into that kind of cycle. Now it was a matter of not messing it up.
While Claire sat down, Lovino needed to look down over Alice's shoulder to see what he was doing, so he ended up sort of leaning over her. He tried to ignore the fact that their faces were only about a foot away from each other, a focused frown on his own as he went through what he needed to do in his head and set to work.
"No moving or doing anything else that distracts me unless something starts really hurting, got it?" he half snapped, half ordered, that much more bad tempered simply because of stress.

(OOOH LOVI GETTIN A LITTLE CLOSE THERE)
"All's fine. Just a bit of stitching and tying - maybe an hour or two total," Alice nodded, instead of giving out a small, "Okay." This just means I'll be here awhile...I guess I don't mind being here with Lovi in the hospital.
As Lovino got closer to Alice, to work on her shoulder, she blushed a light shade of pink. Wow. A girl blushing as a nurse is operating on her shoulder. Well, I'd say there are better times to blush, but what can I do. I just describe what happens.
"No moving or doing anything else that distracts me unless something starts really hurting, got it?" Something inside Alice broke (figurative). It's one of those moments where you suddenly see a different side to a person, and you're almost not okay with it. It made Alice want to cry, but as he said, "Don't do anything that distracts me."
"Okay."

Claire glanced up, almost jealous of what Lovino and Alice seemed to have. She hadn't even seen Shawn in weeks, not since some time before the Shadow issue started up. The girl was sure she could feel her heart droop with the prospect of it. Blinking away the thoughts that seemed so selfish, she returned the work, dabbed away a bit of blood, and started tying veins off. She's going to have some nerve damage among other things, Claire thought to get her mind off Shawn. And who did this to Alice. And all the other injuries and mental and physical scars they would all have to carry. A tear of pain and rage slid down Claire's cheek, and she narrowed her eyes to resist a torrent of sobs and screams of anger.

They didn't have anything. At least, if they did Lovino wasn't aware of it. As far as he was concerned she was just another girl with a pretty face but for no reason were they close, despite how they might have been physically at that particular moment. Right. Of course. Acquaintances, nothing more.
Whatever Claire was seeing, Lovino didn't. He'd always been a little bit blind, though.
The truth was the Italian wasn't trying to be mean at all. He just didn't want Alice distracting him because he didn't want to screw up. He was still...technically...a beginner. So...he was concerned.
He let out a deep breath to try and calm his nerves (it wasn't effective) and kept working, going through the motions.
"If talking helps distract you from this though, go ahead." He was just trying to be considerate, he didn't want her to feel uncomfortable. He'd ignore her.
Maybe.

( do you want me to make another thread with shawn and claire?)
Alice knew she was going to be bored for the next 1-2 hours. She could try to look down on the operation on her foot. But...the gore and blood was starting to make Alice feel sick, and it would probably distract Lovino. Well, there was probably only one thing that wouldn't distract Lovi or Claire: Daydream.
Alice wasn't much of a daydreamer. What she mostly did was revisit unpleasant memories. Maybe it was because most of the things she loved, made her nostalgic for those things.
I guess I should start now...
The small half-blood decided to daydream that there were never any assassins at the academy. Or maybe a lucky half-blood found out their weakness, and used it against them. What is their weakness?

One of the veins in Alice's foot refused to tie off, and the doctor/principal sighed under her breath, made a few distant curses, and selected a tiny clamp from a tray nearby. With a glance up, Claire could see the sort of distant look in Alice's eye, but then a return of focus. Poor girl. Can't life without the scars in her mind. I suppose we all carry a burden of past... Claire thought, remembering her own mother and father, died to the stakes, burned alive, then her mother, who had chosen to continue on as an animal, running off into the woods. I wonder if she's alive. What would she think of me now? Would she be proud? The girl shook her head slightly to get the thought off her mind. Refocused, she clamped the intolerable vein, likely with minimal pain administration, and continued her attempt at connecting and tying veins once again. She's lucky we don't have to amputate. There's still a chance me might, but... For now she's fine.
|Maybe. If you want. Shawn's too young for Claire, though |
