|@taytay, and I suppose @zachary later on JUST HOLD ON RANDAMIR I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS CRYING WOMAN HOLD YOU'RE TRICKSTER BAE BACK BEFORE I THROW A KNIFE INTO HIS SCULL ♥|
Tears are the chains that hold people to the past. It's also the fire that rages inside and coaxes out the nature of your anguish. Tears are the binding factor. They hold a power that can be reigned and ruled. And Opal knew how. Only moments before, Shadow had been engulfed by the intoxicating smell of blood. The murder of two dozen didn't get to her, not when she had killed nearly a hundred half-bloods already. But it was replenishing, a cast to her softening heart. Now that she felt rebuilt, more strong, she could harness other's grief and bend them to the truth; Opal's truth. On the air, Opal could swear to the echos of deep sobs, and she followed the wake of bent leaves like a tracker on a deer's trail. The path lead through the trees, around a river, and to the lake. Perfect. Open, and a void of space. It wasn't Opal's ideal grounds for fighting, but she wasn't in combat. Just kindling it. "Cecelia?" Opal asked in the most soothing voice she could coax, revolting at it's realism. She stepped forward, close to the water, near the red-haired woman. Giving a moment, a few glances, the assassin bent down and washed the crimson off her finger tips and rubbed caked blood and dirt off her boots. It would be far optimistic of Cece to accept Opal's company, but the black-haired nineteen year-old was relying on it. So pathetic. Needing someone's shoulder to cry on. Opal frowned to herself. Who am I kidding? I could go for a shoulder in these times.

Cecelia ran as fast as she could and didn't pay attention where she was running to. She collapsed next to the lake and breathed heavily, looking at her reflection in the water. Her head turned away so she wouldn't be able to see herself staring back. M-Monster... Everything that was going on and the dark truths were enough to make Cecelia show her true self. Not the happy-go-lucky act she had been putting on for the others. Angelica died, Cece's mother died, Jasper was murdered, Rosemary had gone insane, Dami was attacked by Shadow, and Shadow revealed to Cece what she had been missing out on her whole life.
She was getting tired of the secrets, the lies, and the rumors. Her name was being called in an unsure yet smooth voice. It was familiar like she had listened to it not long ago. "Shadow..." Cecelia scooted away from the assassin and slowly turned her head, looking at Opal with an almost emotionless look... and a hint of "I'm going to kill you" kind of look. It was as if the sparkle in her eyes was fading away. "What do you want?"

"To talk," Opal remarked instantly, rubbing her masked forehead with the wet back of her hand. "I'm sorry about your... brother?" She shrugged, let Cecelia scoot away. The girl sat down, a few feet away, and turned honest eyes on the girl. "I'm not going to hurt you. I promise." To finalize that, she raised her palms and slowly drew one knife after another, tossing each away so they were too far away to use. She kept only one, a long one from her boot, just in case. Opal looked off into he sky, off the horizon, a normal expression on her lips. "I haven't met you yet, you know. Don't feel like you've been betrayed by me - people think that a lot - Because we haven't met - mask-off, I mean. If that makes any sense."

"To talk," There wasn't much Cece could say to that. Who could she trust now, anyway? The answer was no one. "I'm sorry about your... brother?" Cecelia scoffed and looked away from Opal when she gave her that pitiful excuse of an apology. "How could you be sorry for what you did to him? You did it out of satisfaction, right? I don't know if this makes a difference but he was a human, too. Not that I'm saying it's right to hurt the others because they aren't."
Ugh, she didn't know what to say or do. The truth was coming out and who knows, there could be more for her to discover. Why? Why did it have to be that way? My whole life I only wanted the truth. I finally get it and wish I never learned the truth in the first place. No one can be completely satisfied... That's life I guess. "I haven't met you yet, you know. Don't feel like you've been betrayed by me - people think that a lot - Because we haven't met - mask-off, I mean.
If that makes any sense." Cecelia glanced back at Opal and her breathing slowed down as she tried to calm herself. She pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. "Dami.... was the first to figure it out. You know, why I always smile... I didn't know at the start that he was doing the same thing. Putting on a smile as a mask.. If you are so worried about others not trusting you, why don't you take it off?"

Opal shrugged, drew a knee up to her chest, and leaned her had against it, watching Cecelia. "We all wear a mask. Some choose to show it physically," She decidedly responded, licking her lips as though they were dry, red lipstick bitter in the tip of her tongue. "I hide behind knowledge. At least I used to. I was... I was afraid of what the Half-bloods did, and then what the humans did in response. I was afraid because I knew the truth. That's my mask. And I wear it to mock it. And now it's my greatest strength." She smiled, turned back to the sky. "You all think my strengths are vulgar and brutal - and it's partially true, I'll admit - But the strongest and most terrifying is in here." Opal raised a finger and tapped her head with a single finger.

"Ah, so you have a clever mind... I guess that's good?" What was this? What were they doing? Shadow wanted to talk to her. But, was that it? No, it couldn't be... unless Shadow was trying to earn her trust. Well, a talk with Dami's assassin was what she was looking for, anyway. Cecelia had asked for it. They talked about mental and physical masks that people wore to deceive others. Like they say, looks could be deceiving. "Dami is a wreck because of you. Not only did you make Rosemary go insane but... he is in a state where he cannot stop feeling guilty for giving in." Oh, she really hoped Dami was going to be okay. He was severely injured and he didn't need the feeling of guilt piled up on that. Cecelia was trying to keep him and herself sane for the time being. "You never told me... Why are you doing this?"

Opal nodded, remembering her over-the-extreme reaction Damian had drawn out of her, driving her to injure him more than she had anticipated and left him for dead. "You never told me... Why are you doing this?" It was a question that Opal had been asked so many times, but never had been able to make a complete answer. "Grief, I suppose. And love. It's irrelevant to what I do need to tell you, Cecelia," Opal asserted, turning brown, stern eyes on the red-haired girl. "I don't know how to break it to you softly to you... I didn't mean to find it out, but... I want to protect you. I feel like we have something in connection, and I need to protect you from the thing that makes you feel safe."

Cecelia grew interested in listening to what Shadow wanted to tell her. Part of her wanted to ignore the assassin. Shadow was behind it all. Why should Cecelia waste her time listening to what could have been a lie? It felt like she couldn't trust anyone. Could I trust Dami? "I love you.." Dami's voice echoed in her head. "I don't want you to go out there." So much for listening to him... I'm sorry, Dami. She shook Dami out of her mind and focused on Shadow. "That's what they all say." she air quoted, "I feel like we have something in connection." "What did you find out?" Even though, Cecelia still didn't believe a word Shadow said to her.

At least she's listening, Opal thought, scanning Cecelia's eyes for what she could tell the girl. Opal wasn't too fond of lying, despite her abilities at it, but... Well, a girl had to do what she had to do. "Damian, he... Cece, he killed you're parents. I'm sorry..." The assassin lied, her eyes full of fake pity. "And he was holding back still, so I- I found that.... He was going to kill you! I'm sorry, it's the truth!"

"What?" Cecelia was silent for a while. She was trying to think about it. "No, that couldn't be true! You're lying to me. How could he have known my parents? Jasper told me. He told me that mother died from brain cancer and my father is still alive." What if it was true? Dami could be after her. I don't want it to be true. F-Father... Even though she denied it, part of her wanted to hint that it could be true.
Cecelia couldn't believe it. She had forgotten from the beginning that some of the half-bloods at the academy could be dangerous towards a human. What if Dami was one of those half-bloods? He could've been playing her the whole time to get close to her and kill her. But, he could've just turned her into the half-bloods. Maybe he wanted his revenge to be more... personal. "You don't have proof. You weren't there to see it. You don't know Dami.."

"No, I don't," Opal agreed, a dire look of concern masking her pleasure. "But I know truth. I know how to read secrets. And he knew I would go to you anyway, so why would he tell me something that would only give you reason to hate him? You have to trust me. Human to human. Why else would I want to protect you?" Oh, lets see, to build an army of humans that will take over the pitiful humans half-bloods so I can rule over them until all the other half-bloods are dead, and them kill the ones at the academy. Case closed. Half-bloods gone. World restored.

"If you want to protect humans like yourself, you would tell me this to protect me. You could also be telling me this to make me turn against them. I am not stupid.." It was like the movies. Cecelia was not going to be fooled so easily. Shadow didn't deny that she didn't have any proof. That must have meant she didn't have any. She was making it up, wasn't she? I will figure it out along the way... "Alright then, what do you suppose we do?"
(I just wanted to wrap it up already lol)

Opal sighed, shaking her head. "I can help you. I can meet with you, protect you. Swear my protection over you - as long as you don't go behind my back," Opal suggested. "The best thing you can do is rise up and join me in the war that started so long ago. I'll spare those you wish, but I need your full word." Of course, she wouldn't spare any half-bloods besides those she found suiting. But she wasn't about to admit that.

Everything seemed like something she could accept to. When Opal gave her the option to spare the half-bloods she wanted, she immediately thought of Damian. She wanted to spare all of them, really. Dami was the one she really needed to see. "I want you to spare them all but I know that is asking too much... Spare Damian for now. I have plans for him and spare the injured." It would give the injured time to recover. The others could decide to get together and fight with all the strength they had. Dami... Cece wanted to talk to him. Cecelia looked into Opal's brown eyes and nodded. "I give you my word and my life."

Another nod. "Meet me here by the lake at sunset every Monday. Okay?" Opal suggested, standing to leave, offering a hand. She doesn't seem as broken as I need. I need to wedge glass between her beliefs and what half-bloods really are. I need her to see that. She's more upset about other half-bloods killing presidents than someone she loves killing her own parents. That's odd. Never mind that. "And Cece? Be careful. Any rational murderer would deny the truth," Opal warned, then smiled at herself. "I guess I'm not rational then."

Cecelia nodded, agreeing to meet with her on Monday at sunset by the lake. She looked up as Opal stood and held her hand out. "Um..." Her face frowned and she reached out, taking her hand. I can't let her know that I am unsure about this. If I talk to Dami, would he tell me the same as Shadow? That he killed my father... What would I do then? She stood up and looked at Opal, wondering if it was a good idea to join up with her. "I don't want to hurt any of them.. Will that be alright?"

Opal nodded. I can rot her brain later. To the point where she has to listen for fear of her own safety and other's. "I'll see you Monday." With a sharp grin, she walked up the beach, scooped up her knives, slid them away, and headed back toward her base to prepare for a little chat with Damian.
