He got the disorder because after his parents died, Adam went a little crazy.
History:
Adam and his sister, Aria, grew up in peace in Colorado for about 10 years. Adam was 10, and Aria was 8 when the HBES attacked their home. They set in on fire, where their mother died. Adam's father let them fly off on their own, sacrificing himself to the HBES. Adam and Aria lived on their own, and Adam developed MPD, for he went insane after his parents died. They had to live like this for 8 more years, when they built the courage to face humans in Denver. Eventually, they were found out by humans, and had to hide within the dark alleys of the city. Adam actually tried to ecape the city, but someone shot Adam in the arm. That's when he got the letter to Animalia Academy.
