A hooded figure stood alone in the courtyards. It seemed he was always alone, after all. He never spoke up, never talked to anyone that much, and everyone he cared about just...was gone. His parents had died not too long ago, and after coming here with his brother, Alec, soon after he had disappeared. Any will to reach out had been lost for a while, now. The only people who had encouraged it were gone, Cody simply saw no point.
Once in a while it occurred to him that others could help, they could stop this lonely feeling in his chest, but then he remembered he simply didn't know how to reach out anymore. He had closed himself off, ran away, hidden himself away, and now more than ever he wanted somebody to look under his favorite hiding spot under his bed and coax him out but nobody was there.
He was just the white-haired freak of the school, after all. What normal kid would want to be near him anyway?

The young woman smiled thoughtfully as she came back from the lake having a heartfelt talk with her coworker Claire. The she wolf half blood made her way across the courtyard. Her silky white hair pulled up into a high ponytail. Her bangs falling into her face and covering half her face in the process. Her green eye, the one visible caught sight of a dark figure hiding away making her frown in confusion.
She slowly walked over; giving the person enough time to see her coming. "Hi there." She smiled kindly at the figure. She couldn't quite see the persons face but not that she needed to really. "I'm Angelica." She offered softly as she crouched infront of them. "You alright there hun?"

Cody turned to the girl that was approaching him, his own silvery bangs and face easily visible even with his hood hiding the rest of his messy mop of hair. Her face was warm and kind, even though she had probably dealt with her own hardships. It had always been a mystery to Cody how one could deal with so many deaths and disappearance of friends and family and remain smiling. After everything, Cody just kept shying away from everyone else, not trying to reach out more. Was he being selfish for not wanting to be hurt again? Everyone he had loved had disappeared, and deep down, he was always scared that if he started to care for anyone else they would too.
But he couldn't just ignore Angelica and pretend she wasn't there, could he? He looked at her again, realizing that her own hair was a soft, pure white as well as his. At the very least she wouldn't be able to make fun of his hair. The halfbloods didn't really do it as much anyway, though years of habit caused Cody to try and hide it anyway. He felt exposed when it wasn't covered now.
"Fine," he replied, trying not to seem rude, but at the same time not so sure about how to go with his reply. He didn't notice that he had just lied. "I'm Cody."

"It's nice to meet you Cody." She smiled. "What are you doing hiding away?" She asked curiously. "Your not hiding from that bully Logan are you?" She frowned. "I heard he was hurting lots of kids including my sister. She commented.

At the mention of Logan, Cody's eyes widened and he stiffened. His hand came up to rub his upper right arm, the bandages from the wound he received from Logan in their worst encounter long gone, but the memory of the injury and that day was clear. His cheeks heated up with guilt. He had been there when Serenity had been hurt. It was because of him that she had gotten hurt in the first place. She had been defending Cody, and her only reward had been that she had been injured more than Logan's favorite prey had been. The pink on his cheeks contrasted against his pale skin more than he would have liked.
Despite that being a small factor and one of the many reasons that Cody was more afraid to venture alone, it wasn't why he was hiding away. His blue eyes lowered, he found himself unable to look at the face of Serenity's sister without guilt overwhelming him. The fact that the two sisters looked alike just made everything worse.
"That's not why I'm hiding," he admitted. "I'm Logan's favorite target, but he's still not the reason I don't like to be around anyone else."

She noticed his reaction and gave him a reassuring smile. "Yeah, people tend to have that reaction around him. I never met the guy but I've patched up alot of wounds because of him." She shook her head. "Then why are you afraid if its not just him?" She ventured to ask.

Cody bit the inside of his lip, his eyes lowering to the ground, flickering between that and Angelica uncertainly. Deep inside he knew just what he was afraid of. And it was that fear that kept him from answering the wolf half-blood. It was his fear that kept him from admitting in front of her just what he was afraid of.
"I...I don't want to talk about it," he said quietly, stuttering slightly.

She watched him a little while before nodding slowly. "Ok. No need to worry. I won't push you to tell me." She smiled reassuringly. "Your one of the old students here aren't you?" She asked tilting her head to see his face better. "It's makes me happy to see that not all of the first students that came to this academy in the beginning have left." She smiled slightly

"I guess I'm one of the first people that came here, yeah," he remembered. His brother had been one of the first accepted, and so Cody had arrived with him. With a pang, Cody remembered he wasn't here anymore. He was gone, and he didn't know if Alec was ever coming back.
"I came here with Alec West in the first days of the Academy," he replied, a small attempt to start a conversation, despite the effort already being painful for Cody. "He's not here anymore, but I am. I don't exactly have anywhere else to go..."

She nodded and sat down in front of him. "I understand what your getting at. My sister left because it was getting too dangerous...she was human you see so it would have even extra dangerous for her no matter how much training she would have had." She shook her head. "But it's ok Cody." She smiled sweetly. "You still have other people here. If you need anyone's help or just company I'm always free! And Claire would be happy to hang out with you. Really your not alone here." She stated. "You only think tat because the only people you got close too like your brother are gone. But there are people here who do care even if they are strangers at first. This place is a haven for people like us. We are a family. Dysfunctional sometimes but a family nonetheless."
