Letting the river flow (p)

The people that mourned over Kevin's death started to calm down and cry softly to themselves. Diablo was watching Angelica the whole time, and he hoped he would get the chance to talk to her alone to see how she was doing. He began to doze off until Angelica stopped talking. Was she going to cry or something? Diablo woke up and noticed the wolf girl leaving the scene. The serval decided to follow her out of the cafeteria. Where was she going? He hid carefully as he followed her so she wouldn't know he was there. Of course, he forgot that she could pick up on his scent. Diablo came out from where he was hiding and slowly made his way around Angelica to where he was standing in front of her. "Angel..." he said and looked at her with a soft gaze. He sat down next to her on the rock and put his arm around her, nuzzling her face gently. "You're going to be okay. I promise you that. I'm going to stay right here with you until it is all over. Even when it is over, I will still be here for you.... I'm sorry about your friend..."

It wasn't fair to dump it all on Angelica. What did she do wrong? She was just one girl... Diablo was aware that life wasn't fair but why was it all dumped on her? Why was it dumped on anyone for that matter? The man held Angelica close and let her cry in his arms. Angelica was right. What was the academy coming to? It was supposed to be a safe place for the half-bloods to live in peace and be happy together. It was mostly to keep them away from humans since the humans scarred most of the half-bloods if not all of them. "Come on, Angel... Don't say that."

He didn't think it was right for everyone to rely on Angelica to keep strong for all of them. They needed to get over it themselves. It's not like they hadn't seen death. It's not like they hadn't lost one of their loved ones before! It was still sad but the half-bloods needed to wake up soon. Diablo didn't like seeing Angelica act so mature for everyone. It was a lot of pressure on her. It's like she couldn't cry in front of anyone because then the half-bloods would lose hope. "This is supposed to be Claire's responsibility. If she can't handle it, then I don't think she should be the one leading us..."

Diablo was glad that Angelica didn't get mad at him for saying that Claire shouldn't be the one leading them if she couldn't handle Kevin's death. All of the half-bloods have lost the ones dearest to them. Kevin's death should've been no problem at all. Yes, it was still sad and they could cry about it, but they couldn't do it for too long. The students needed to move on. It was wrong for them to lean on Angelica like that. Angelica was the one to stand up for them after all so maybe it was kind of her fault for having all of the heavy weight on her shoulders.

Diablo hoped to lift some of that weight off of her. He was afraid that everything that was happening would break her. He looked down at her and smiled, wiping away her tears. His gaze softened when Angelica told him that she was scared that he could be targeted. He could've been the one killed that day in the forest. "Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere soon... I will stay with you until my time comes. I love you, sweet Angel." he said and leaned in to kiss her forehead.

Diablo felt his girlfriend at ease, and he stroked her hair gently. It was okay if she fell asleep in his arms. He would make sure she got back to her dorm safely. Gosh, she was so pretty and such a kind person. Diablo felt like the luckiest guy in the world and he really meant it. There was no one he could ever love like Angelica. After his road of hardships, he found the light at the end of the tunnel. That light was Angelica. She brightened his day with just her smile. He was glad her smile was starting to come back after what happened. He hated seeing her so upset. It just made him want to go to the gym and punch the heck out of the punching bag. Diablo knew life wasn't fair but how could it be so cruel to Angelica like that?

He closed his eye for a few seconds only to open it back up when Angelica asked if he knew that he was amazing. "Ha ha.. You would be the first to say that. I never thought I was amazing... just a regular person with feelings I guess." He blushed and gazed down at his girl, smiling. "Aw~" He thought it was sweet that she kissed the corner of his mouth. His tail popped out and so did his kitty ears, flicking his tail with amusement. Diablo continued to hold her close, and he purred as he sniffed her hair. That was weird and awkward but he didn't care. Angelica would have to get used to it. His tail continued to swish back and forth, and he nuzzled her neck with his nose.

"I love you! I love you..." Diablo sniffled slightly and started to cry to himself, snuggling up to her. "Angel... I love you."

It was just an emotional moment for Diablo. There were moments where Diablo would cry and he wouldn't regret it. Most guys act all tough and handle their feelings differently, but sometimes Diablo would cry, even if it was in front of someone. He was just so happy to be with her, and he realized that he had found something amazing. Something that he wanted to protect with his life. Something that he didn't want anybody else to touch. Every man had their own kind of treasure that they wouldn't give up. Diablo's treasure was Angelica. Diablo bit on his bottom lip to stop the tears, and he pulled his head back a little to wipe the blood from his mouth. "I'm just... so happy right now. Please, stay with me, Angel."

His purr choked up for a minute there, and he went back to purring like normal. If only Angelica could purr... She would be so cute, but she's already cute now. Diablo rubbed Angelica's back and nuzzled her face softly, wrapping his tail around hers. He liked that only he could do that but he wished Angelica could wrap her tail around his. It would feel better. "My sweet angel... I am asking for a lot.. But, if you can, do me this favor out of all the other things I've asked of you. Promise me you will stay like this. Stay kind, stay beautiful, and stay perfect."

Wait what!? Diablo blushed hard and looked away from her for a little bit. "E-Ever? It's not like I don't want to be with you forever but... I just meant a long time for us to be together. And, you don't have to do that just because I asked you. I just...- I meant... Ugh!" he growled and leaned forward to kiss her on the lips. Maybe that would shut him up from spattering out anything else. He hoped she wasn't offended by any of that. But, he was just telling her the truth that he meant he wanted to be with her for a long time. That other stuff would be way down the road.

Yes, they would still be best friends if they broke up in the future. Why would they have a reason to break up anyway? Diablo thought that they were perfect together. It was the devil and the angel. They were meant to be. Of course, time would only tell them if they should break up or continue dating. The man was glad to hear that Angelica wouldn't change, even if they did break up. It would probably be hard on the both of them, but they would make up and remain best friends. Diablo pressed his forehead against Angelica's and closed his eye, smiling. "Angel...." he whispered and started to nod off a little bit. He pulled away from Angelica and turned into his serval cat form, hoping Angelica would do the same. He curled up next to her and purred loudly, flicking his long tail. "Would you mind? I'm sure all of that crying has made you tired as well. Come and sleep next to me.."
