(For @ai, because these two just need to happen. xD)
Hunter looked behind him again, making sure that Aya was following him. From what he knew she hadn't been around the forest too much, and Hunter wanted to be with her when she did come here. Call him overprotective, but he didn't want her getting lost or anything. Being an older brother in these times was hard, and often left a guy a little paranoid, even about the little things.
Hunter looked up again, admiring the night sky. He had always liked night better than day, another trait that transferred from his animal half. He was pretty sure it was the same with Ayase, which is why he had waited till it was dark. He checked to make sure she was there again, using his enhanced vision to pick out her frame against the dark trees and bushes.
"Are you doing okay back there?" he asked, his voice standing out against the noise of crickets.

The little girl giggled and hopped after Hunter like a bunny rabbit. There were so many cute animals they saw on their walk. Squirrels, deer, chipmunks, etc. They had everything! Of course, the animals had to turn in for the night, which made Ayase sad. She wanted to play with them! Ayase looked around the forest and gasped in amazement. Her amber eyes sparkled even more as they continued their walk through the forest. Hunter looked back and that made Ayase smile. "Hop~ Hop~ Hop~ I'm a bunny rabbit!" she said and started to skip behind her brother. It would've been better if she was in front of Hunter, though. Then, it would be easier for him to keep his eye on her and protect her. "Yep, I'm okay!" she replied and went back to skipping, humming a happy tune. "I can't wait for it to be the day. Ooh! And, then the little animals will be awake so we could play!" Hopefully, Ayase wouldn't get too excited with the small animals. Play time could easily change with Ayase. She would get too excited and accidentally snap an animal's neck.
(Maybe they could be half siblings and that's why their names are so different. Or, they are full blood siblings and their mother was Japanese. It could go several ways xD)

(I feel as thought they should be full siblings, but the mom gave Aya a Japanese name because she look more like her?)
Hunter smiled a bit at Aya's response. Sometimes he forget how young she was compared to him. She was so much more carefree than Hunter, and he wasn't surprised that not too many people had guessed they were siblings. They looked so different, not to mention the differences in their names, but that was just the way it was.
Aya was one of the people that Hunter relaxed more around. Her carefree attitude was kind of contagious for him, and it definitely rubbed off when she was around.
"Maybe some of the night-time creatures will come out, but you're gonna have to be quiet if you want them to," Hunter replied, a small smile still on his face. "I kind of like it at night more. We're foxes, after all. Do you like daytime more, though?"

Yeah. Ayase never paid attention to the fact that they both looked different from each other, and they had completely different names. Of course, she was only ten years old. Her life so far was about playing all day, making new discoveries to satisfy her curiosity, and just a regular childhood a child should have. Her parents were her parents. Hunter was her brother. She was very happy with her life, but she was still curious why she was at the school. She missed her mom and dad so much, however, she wasn't aware that they would most likely be dead. "I think I like both the day and night equally!" Ayase whined slightly when Hunter mentioned that she would have to be quiet for the animals to come out.
"Awwww! I want them to come out now." The little girl turned into her fox form and started searching for animals to play with. She found a hole underneath a tree, and she stuck her nose in the hole. Ayase started to dig, and she squeezed her head into the hole to see if any animals were in the tree. "Helloooo?" No answer back. The fox groaned and tried to squeeze her head out of the hole, but it was not successful. "Ahh! Hunter, I-I'm stuck! Help me! Y-You know I'm not good with tight spaces!" she cried and started to panic. Ayase growled and fought violently with it, trying to put her paws on the tree trunk and push on it to get her head out. "H-Hunter!" The fox sniffed and started to cry a bunch of tears. She was very claustrophobic, and she felt like she was going to die right there.

Hunter looked back, shifting into his own red fox form and trotting over to where Aya had evidently gotten stuck. He tried to hold in a smirk as he started pawing at the dirt around the black fox cub.
"Aya, calm down," he said. "It's just a bit dark and small in there. Don't worry, I'm gonna get you out in a second." He loosened the dirt around Aya's head, then attempted to grab the back of her scruff. "One. Two. Three!" He tried pulling on Aya's scruff to get her head out of the hole.
(I guess I can't write as much as I would have liked there xD)

(Naaaw, it's okay!)
Ayase felt kind of weak for crying to her brother for help to get her head out of the tree. Well, it's not like that didn't happen before. She always got herself stuck in situations like that. She felt something digging at the dirt around her head. "Eek! Hunter, is that you?" What if it was a larger animal that wanted to eat her!? I don't wanna die! Wow... Drama queen right there. To her relief, she could hear her brother's voice except it was kind of muffled. "How do you except me to be calm!?" He should know how scared I am of tight spaces! Her tail drooped, and she just plopped down on her belly in defeat.
"I just want to play with the forest animals..." she pouted and waited patiently for her brother to help her out. Ayase jumped slightly and snapped at Hunter, growling underneath her breath. "H-Hey! Watch it." While Hunter was pulling her scruff back, she pushed her paws on the tree to help out. Her head popped out, and she started to sway back and forth. "Woah, talk about head rush! Ow ow ow...." Her cheeks grew hot with embarrassment and she said, "Thanks for helping me out... Ow, now my head hurts..."

Hunter was aware of his sister's claustrophobia, which is why he had tried to work faster. He would have rather liked to be more careful about the process, but he wouldn't hear the end of it. He had skidded back and let out of Ayase as soon as she had gotten out of the hole, shaking the dirt out of his red fur.
"Are you okay?" he asked, shifting back to his human form, which was the one he usually like to be in. Ayase on the other hand, didn't seem to favor one or the other but continuously switched at a moments notice. It was kind of amusing. She transformed almost as fast as she had mood swings. Hunter was interested in watching her grow up and seeing her personality change, but he knew that whenever it did, it would be too soon. It was hard to imagine her ever growing up.

What did he think would happen if he wasn't careful? Nope. Ayase just wanted him to grab her and yank her out of there. She plopped down on her butt and started pawing at her face to get the dirt off. Great! Now, she was all dirty. "Ew.. Ew.. Ew! I think I swallowed a bug." Hm... I wonder what kind of bug. Please, don't be a spider! They freak me out... The fox shuddered at the thought of a spider crawling back up her throat. N-No! Cough it out! Cough it out! she thought to herself and started running around like crazy. "It's not a spider! It's not a spider!" Ayase told herself and whimpered, looking back at Hunter before she ran into a tree. The fox walked around and plopped down on her stomach, sticking her tongue out. "I think I need to rest..." Ugh, even she was giving herself a headache. It was a shame. She had so much energy that she didn't know what to do with it. I doubt the nighttime animals will play with me now.. Ayase shifted into her human form and stood up, brushing off her clothes with her hands. "S-Sorry. I'm just so hyper!"

Hunter was getting exhausted just watching Ayase.
She was crazy.
Absolutely crazy.
In that cute little way all kids were. "You didn't swallow a bug," Hunter called, smiling a bit to himself and wondering if she had even heard him. It seemed she hadn't, though, since she was still running around. He winced as she bumped into a tree, letting out a bit of an "ick" noise, but he knew that Aya was okay since she got right back up. Anyone else might have just started crying.
"I would hope that you would rest," Hunter murmured. "You were making me dizzy just watching you." At her next comment Hunter couldn't help but snort a bit. So she did know that it was a lot of energy, even for somebody as young as her.
"I noticed you were a bit hyper. It's natural for you to be more active during night, which is why you might have trouble falling asleep sometimes. Eventually you will be able to handle it better."

Ayase laughed and started to dance in place to keep her body moving. It was just one of those things where she wanted to run and run until she couldn't run anymore. It was one of those kind of feelings where you can't keep still. She had to keep herself distracted by something or walk around in the same spot. Yep, she wasn't going to have a problem sleeping at all especially if she used up most of her energy. Of course, that was the same with most little kids. They would play all day and take a long nap. "Soooo, were we going anywhere specific or just walking around? When do you think the night animals will come out?" The night animals wouldn't come out any sooner with her running around and making a bunch of noise. Ayase walked around in a circle trying to think of a way to make herself not so energetic. Then, she came to a stop and let out a big yawn. "Ugh... I'm tired!"
