@taytay
Damian was finally back to being up and about. His alert blue eyes were darting around the room, a sign he had reverted slightly to the attitude he had taken while being on the run. He hadn't thought that getting injured would have such an effect on him, but every time he thought about it, he found himself second-guessing the motives of people he thought were his friends. But there was one person he didn't seem to be doing that to, maybe the person he should be trying to figure out the most.
Cecelia. The human strayed into his thoughts far more times than anyone else he knew. The one human that Damian knew was the only person he still trusted fully. He had no doubts about her whatsoever. It was being apparent that the teen might be starting to like her.
Oh yeah. Damian was definitely in denial. What was so special about her anyway? How had she gained his trust so completely and fully that Damian felt completely relaxed just thinking about her? Because she was kind to him? Because she seemed to care about him?
Because she saved him from his own kind.
Damian let out a sigh and closed his eyes. Don't think about it, you're just going to hurt yourself, Dami, he told himself. Phantom pains echoed throughout his wing for a moment before he pushed the thoughts away. He didn't hear the footsteps behind him.

The students were starting to smell something fishy going on. Cecelia left the academy and a month later, rumor spread around that she was coming back. Yup! The human girl was back. Honestly, she should've stayed in the human world since she was probably more in danger now than ever before. Damian, Kevin, and Adam really got to her, though. She had to come back and see them again. The thought of not seeing the boys for more than a year or forever drove her insane. They were very good friends to her. Cecelia hummed happily to herself at the thought of her three friends. I wonder who I will run into first~ "Oof!" she squeaked as she bumped into a brown-haired boy. "I-I'm so sorry! I didn't see where I was going and- Wait a minute... Are you..?" she trailed off and her eyes widened in shock. "D-Dami?" Of course, it was Dami. Who else would it be? Obviously, she was meant to see him first out of the three. "Dami!" Cecelia cried out his name and gave him a big hug. Happy tears rolled down her cheeks and she squeezed him tightly. "I'm so sorry, Dami!"

Damian let out his own, "Oof," staggering slightly before he turned around, his hands still in his pockets to see who had run into him. His mouth opened in a silent gasp, staring with wide eyes at the girl in front of him. He was stuttering in his thought process he was so shocked. What the-?! Is that? It can't be- she was gone for a month? What is going on?! Before he could say anything, however, Cecelia crashed into him with a tight hug.
She hadn't said goodbye to him. Cecelia hadn't said goodbye when she left. And it hurt. It hurt a lot more than Damian thought it would. He never thought he was going to see Cecelia again and yet here she was. What broke the moment was when he felt her arms brushing his wings. The shock of a single flashback was enough to give him words again.
"Squeezing....a bit....tight..." he gasped.

Cecelia didn't want to say goodbye to any of them. If she said goodbye, it was like she was giving up on them. But, it was just too painful for her to say to the guys. She knew she would break down in tears and start speaking gibberish through choking on her own words and her crying. She couldn't let them see her like that. It wouldn't be a pretty sight at all since crying wasn't her thing. It didn't look good on her. She looked better with a smile on her face. "Wait what? Oh, sorry!" Cecelia laughed nervously and let go of Damian. She took a few steps back so she wouldn't be in his personal space. The owl probably needed some time to soak it all in especially Cecelia. She was energetic and bubbly, which could be a bit overpowering for some people. "Sooooo, how have you been? Don't tell me you already replaced me with someone else~" The girl giggled and winked at him playfully. "Really, I missed you and the others so much. I'm so happy to be back."

Damian gasped for air for a few seconds, stretching out his wings for a moment to make sure they hadn't been too squished before closing them again and standing up straight. Truthfully he was more paranoid about injuring his wings now. If anyone else brushed against one of his feathers he would freak out. This time he had been lucky, and it was able to heal. But thinking every time it would turn out that well was not something he should get used to. He wasn't going to be that lucky every time.
He looked back at Cecelia again. He didn't move for a minute, just stood there. His wings started pressing in on his back, something that happened when he was nervous. He wasn't sure if Cecelia had noticed that he did that, and hoped she hadn't.
"So...are you staying, then?" he asked. "You should stay in the human world, you aren't safe here." Despite his own protests, Damian was glad that she was back in a way. It was selfish, but he couldn't help it. But now he knew it was even more unsafe for her here. Even if nobody found out she was human. "I'm not just talking about what half-bloods will do if they find out about...b-but even if they don't..." Damian turned his head to the right and stared at the ground, averting his gaze. "Well, you saw what they did to me. And Adam punched you. Isn't that a reason enough to stay away? Cece, I got you hurt."

Cecelia made a pouty face and crossed her arms, wondering what Damian meant by that. Of course, she was staying! If she wasn't staying, she wouldn't have come back. She couldn't believe what she was hearing from her BEST friend. She was closer friends with him than Kevin and Adam. Damian should understand unlike the others. "I... I thought you would be happy to see me." It wasn't that he wasn't happy to see her. Maybe it was her safety he was worried about. Damian was right that she was in danger even more than she was before. Her face turned red when Damian blamed himself for her getting hurt. She was so angry about what he said that she wanted to slap him senseless right there.
"That wasn't your fault! A-And, it wasn't Adam's fault either. Mada... Adam's evil personality did it, and it was my fault for interfering but I couldn't just stand there and watch them beat you to death." The redness faded from her face, and she looked down at the floor in disappointment of herself. "I'm sorry... I don't like being mad at you but it wasn't your fault. I just don't get it... Why do you blame yourself for things you didn't do wrong? Just because I got hurt? There was nothing you could do... You know, you can't protect everyone you care about. We all have to go through our own hardships in life. Don't you get that?"

"Because if I hadn't gotten hurt in the first place you wouldn't have had to stand up for me! You wouldn't have had to interfere and you wouldn't have gotten hurt!" Damian insisted. He was trembling slightly. "I should have been able to help. And what, I just sat there let it happen. What kind of a friend does that, especially what you did for me?"
"I'm sorry about being...overprotective...I know I can't protect everyone, I've already learned that the hard way," Damian sighed. He walked back over to Cecelia and before he realized what he was doing hugged her. It just seemed like the right thing to do. "I missed you. More than I thought I would." Just saying it made Damian feel better, and he let go and backed up a bit, rubbing the back of his neck as he blushed a bit. Just that moment had helped him regain a bit of his former charm.
"Wait. Adam's what-now?"

"Well, I'm sorry if I care about you, Dami! I can't help it. You're my best friend." It was like Damian wanted her to watch him get beat up. It was nonsense! There was no way she would stand by and let that happen to him. No, she didn't want to be his hero. It was common sense. If you care about someone and they are getting beat to a pulp, you should jump in and at least try to stop the fighting. Okay... The screaming at each other wasn't helping the situation. It was just making it worse.
Cecelia accepted Damian's hug and hugged him back, reminding herself to avoid touching his wings. His wings had to be sensitive after what they were put through. She nodded when Damian told her how much he missed her. She didn't say anything back in response because she would choke on her own words. The redhead looked up at Damian and she blinked at him. Oh, shoot! She let it slip out that Adam had a multiple personality disorder. Gosh darn it, Cece! Why do you just let things like that slip out of your mouth? Forget it. I don't think I will ever be able to keep a secret. It always comes out in the end. "I thought he told you... He told Kevin, didn't he? Ugh, I don't think I'll ever be trusted with a secret again. I just thought he would tell you after what happened. I guess not.."

"I haven't seen Adam since he...uh..." Damian cast an awkward side glance at the wall for a moment, still blushing a bit. "You know. Kevin tried apologizing...but it was hard. We haven't exactly made up at all. I've been avoiding both of them," Damian admitted with a sigh.
"Kevin could have killed me. He actually admitted that he would have if you hadn't stepped in. So...thanks...for saving my life," Damian was now blushing even more. He honestly didn't mind that it was embarrassing. He could care less. Accepting that he had been saved by a human just made him more confused. How could the people that saved his life and tried to destroy it be related in any way?
"So, no, he hasn't told me. Though maybe he should have. At least tried to. I think he's only worried about you, though."

A cold shiver went up the redhead's spine when Damian told her Kevin's intentions on killing him in the moment. Cecelia's cheeks grew hot with embarrassment and looked away from Damian a little bit. Damian said it as if it was a big deal. It was a big deal. Cecelia could've lost Damian if she didn't jump in, and she would never forgive Adam and Kevin. "O-Oh. You're welcome.. Anything for a friend." Aw~ They were cute whenever they both blushed. Cecelia leaned in forward a little bit and listened to Damian carefully. "Oh, so you didn't know... Well, don't worry about it~" She wondered why Damian thought Adam was only worried about her. That couldn't be true, could it? "I don't understand... I'm perfectly fine. Why would he be worried about me?"

Cecelia could be so clueless sometimes. "Because he cares about you," Damian said bluntly. "How could you have not noticed? I still don't even know him that well and I could tell. What snapped him out of...whatever was going on...it was realizing he hurt you. How did you not see that?"
"In fact that was what they were all worried about. Not whether I was okay, it was whether you were okay. The moment you were hit they started to realize what they were doing. Like I said, I would be dead if you weren't there. And the depressing truth is that if you hadn't gotten punched I still could be dead," Damian continued. "Talk about ironic."
As some other boys might, Damian wasn't jealous. It proved how great a girl Cecelia was, and he was glad that other people saw her the same way he did...to an extent. Perhaps they liked her more, perhaps less. Damian found it hard to deal with the surges of emotion that popped up whenever she was around. She deserved somebody who wasn't...like him. Though because of how both Kevin and Adam felt, they would spend more time with her. And they were the people that had beat the crap out of Damian a month earlier.
Were those really the boys that Cecelia should be around? What if someday they snapped again and hurt her too?
"Call me paranoid, Cece, but I can't trust those two again. Adam I might be able to forgive, but Kevin..." he voice trailed off. "I don't think I will be able to get over what he did."
Well that stinks >.< ~ Kevin

Well, wasn't she a lucky girl to have three amazing guys worrying about her. Honestly, the girl had no idea what she was going to do about those three. Cecelia was shocked when she heard what Damian said about Adam and Kevin. Adam he could probably forgive, but Kevin... "W-What about Kevin?" Did she make a huge mistake by saying yes to Kevin? She couldn't believe that she might've been wrong about Kevin. What if he really was the bad guy? But... Kevin, he- "Damian, I think it's too late to warn me about Kevin... I-I'm dating him.." Cecelia sighed, and she knew she should've told Kevin to wait. She knew she wasn't ready for a relationship like that, but she thought she had to give him an answer eventually. I hope it isn't true... Kevin, he's a really nice guy, isn't he? Maybe I don't know him as well as I thought I did. I know that Adam and Kevin need to control their animal half but still... "K-Kevin didn't beat you up because he hated you, did he? He didn't want to kill you, right? It was just his animal half... P-Please! Tell me it was just his animal half taking over!"

Damian's eyes widened slightly as he heard that Cecelia was dating Kevin. "A-are you serious?" he stuttered slightly, wings pressing into his back as he stepped away slightly. "After everything he did, you can just forget is that easily?" Damian forced himself to calm down, though his posture was still tense.
"Was it just his animal half? Was it really?" Damian asked, half to himself. "Even when you are a half-blood...your instincts don't just...take over on their own. I know this. Whenever that happens, you let them take over. Some habits are there without you knowing it, yeah, but they never go that far without you letting them." Damian knew this from experience. While he was in the human world, he had let his snow owl nature kick in to keep him safe. They never took over on their own. Which meant that Kevin...was he trying to hurt Damian? Was he aware of what he was doing and just letting it happen?
"Cecelia, I think he could've...been trying to really hurt me, maybe kill me. You just need to promise me you will be careful around him. I don't like this," Damian continued. He wasn't jealous. He wasn't jealous. He felt a bit of a pang of sadness when he thought about it but really he just wanted to make sure that Cecelia was safe.
"I don't think...that I can lose you again."

Damian made Cecelia feel ashamed of herself and disgusting for dating Kevin. Why did he care anyway? It's not like he had any feelings for her. That would be different. "I've forgiven both of them." It wasn't just Kevin she forgave but she also forgave Adam for what happened. She wasn't going to be one of those girlfriends that would stand up for her boyfriend when he obviously did something very wrong. She would point out the cold truth whether she loved him or not. Cecelia really wanted to believe it was just Kevin's animal half. Wolves are bloodthirsty, and they do things without thinking. Maybe that was how Kevin was. But, Damian was worried about her... They were all worried about her. Adam liked her and so did Kevin... Was that also the same with Damian? "I'll be fine, Dami. Don't worry about me. If I get hurt, then I do... It would be my fault not yours." Cecelia took Dami's hands into hers and pulled him into a hug. "Please, don't blame yourself for everything that happens to the people you care about. You can only do what you can do and hope that everything turns out right. I don't want you to carry anyone's burden. Promise me that, okay?"
(This is going to be an awesome plot! I can't wait for everything to turn upside down just like that.)
