Dipper eyed the letter sitting on his bed carefully, almost like it was the worst thing in the world. Maybe it was. Dipper pulled his legs into his chest, wrapping his arms around them tightly and curling his toes inward in his socks. The letter was unopened. It was from Mabel and Dipper's uncle, Stan. Dipper knew he should have waited for Mabel so they could read it together, but he got so excited that he read it the first chance he got.
He wished he hadn't. The words on the page were a bit sloppy, even more than Stan's usual illegible writing. He had written it like he didn't want to say it, or he didn't want either of the Pines Twins to be able to read it. Too bad it wasn't quite sloppy enough. Dipper had read the words. Once. Twice. Three times. And he still couldn't believe it.
He had the suspicion that his parents had sent him and Mabel away to Gravity Falls partly because of the fact that they were all halfbloods, and Stan wasn't. He had thought it was possibly to help protect them. And when right before summer ended they took them to Animalia Academy, that idea only grew more reasonable. But, he hadn't told Mabel because he didn't think she needed to know. And now, his suspicion had just been confirmed. I'm sorry kids...but your parents...
They were gone. Killed by humans. He couldn't believe it. Before he could do anything, he heard a soft knock on the door. He grabbed the letter and shoved it under his pillow next to the secret book he had in an instant, using his quick reflexes, then looked up at the door curiously.
