The light-haired brunette sat at the very front seat, and her pretty head was rested on the window as she slept peacefully throughout the whole ride to the half-blood school. She was a rather unfortunate half-blood to be paralyzed during the time of the humans versus the half bloods. However, she managed to keep low and undercover long enough for a half-blood school to open up. The bus came to a stop in front of the school, and the bus driver slipped out of the driver's seat so he could help the girl off the bus. A teacher rushed out to the school bus and helped the bus driver carry Kohana off the bus. The teacher gently set Kohana down on the ground while the bus driver came out with her wheelchair. They unfolded the wheelchair and offered to help the girl get in the chair, but she waved them off. "Please, I want to do this myself." Kohana let them watch, although, she hated it when people watched her. She pulled herself up into her wheelchair, but it sort of slipped on her and she fell down on her face. The teacher and bus driver put up the offer again and yet they were turned down again. "C-Come on, Kohana... You can do this." she said to herself and dragged herself across the pavement to get to her chair. To her relief, she successfully made it into her wheelchair. The teacher and bus driver gave her a pity look, which she just brushed it off. Finally, I'm here...

There was another group of students that Eli was keen on meeting. He liked to know what was going on, and stay well-informed about the students there. Part of it was so he knew who to avoid, but most of it was just because he felt better having general knowledge of everything. He made his way to the bus stop right in time to see it pull up. He waited, tapping his fingers on the handles of his crutches as he waited, a sign that showed he was a bit anxious. He briefly wondered what was taking so long, but decided it was just that whoever it was was a bit shy.
As the girl rolled out of the bus, Eli felt his mouth open in a small gasp. The brunette was in a wheelchair. He hadn't expected that. Not by a longshot. He limped over as quickly as he could, directly avoiding looking at her legs because he know how it felt to have somebody stare at them instead of your face.
Elijah planted a determined yet friendly expression on his face. He moved his crutches so that he could extend a hand as far as possible, offering a handshake of greeting.
"Welcome to Animalia Academy," he smiled. "I'm Eli, don't suppose you gotta name too?"

Kohana blinked when a boy appeared in front of her. It kind of startled her since she was staring off in space for a moment there. A small smile appeared on her face, and she noticed his arms that were controlling his crutches. The crutches urged her to look down at his legs, but she didn't bother to do that since she didn't like people looking at her limp legs as she tried to pull herself up into her wheelchair. She thought it was cool that she wasn't alone and yet she didn't like that the boy depended on crutches. Of course, Kohana didn't want anyone to be disabled and suffer like her. She was also blessed that her legs were just paralyzed. It wasn't like she had cancer or anything like that but it was still pretty bad. Kohana moved her wheelchair a little bit forward and reached out to shake hands with Elijah. "It's nice to meet you, Eli. My name is Kohana." She blushed slightly and gazed at the boy with admiration. "Thank you for welcoming me. Most people would take one look at me and then they wouldn't want anything to do with me. I'm glad that I'm not alone anymore."

Frankly, in Kohana's case, Elijah couldn't care less if she looked at his dysfunctional legs. She knew what he was going through, heck, she had it worse than him, so he wouldn't take it as insulting. At her comment about other people, Eli felt a bit of anger starting to boil in him. It had never been any of their fault for what had happened, yet people still treated the disabled unfairly, either giving them too much help, or just rejected them.
"No way," Eli frowned. "That's messed up. So you have a wheelchair. What's the big deal about that?" He raised an eyebrow at the "not alone" comment. He nudged her playfully in the shoulder. "Alone? Please. I'm not going anywhere. Not very quickly, anyway. With that wheelchair you could catch up to me in no time." Elijah was at the point where he could joke about his own disability without a problem. He couldn't use his legs very much, and had accepted this fact long ago. He just wanted to make the most of it.

Eh... It just struck her curiosity. Kohana wasn't going to look at Eli's legs whether he found it offensive or not. But, she didn't mind him looking at her legs since she believed that he understood what she was going through since he had something going on with his legs. She let out a sigh and nodded when Eli told her that it wasn't a big deal that she was in a wheelchair. She knew that it wasn't a big deal and yet people still looked at her differently. Kohana laughed as the boy playfully nudged her in the shoulder. It was nice to joke around with someone especially if they knew what you were going through. It was also okay for the disabled to joke about their disability. The jokes showed that they accepted their disability. Kohana always wondered what kind of person she would be if she wasn't put in a wheelchair. I'm sure I would be the same as I am now... I hope so. "So, does that mean you want to be friends?" Her brown eyes sparkled a little in hope that Eli would say yes.

"Did you think we weren't friends already?" Eli asked, smiling and raising an eyebrow. "Like I said, I'm not going anywhere." Elijah blew a strand of his caramel blonde hair out of his face a bit, swaying on his crutches as he usually did without noticing. He wasn't unbalanced, it was just a habit.
"Until you go in your dorm, anyway. I can't exactly stay with you there, that would get awkward..." the teen joked. "Besides, we gotta stick together. We know part of what each other has gone through. I'm guessing you don't like the special treatment either?"

Kevin was just sitting by the bus stop waiting for the new arrivals. When a girl in a wheel chair came out, he gasped. He walked over to her. He saw Eli talking with the girl. "Hey Eli." He said nodding at Eli. Then he looked at the girl. "Hey, how are you doing, my name's Kevin, and you are?"

Her cheeks turned slightly red and she looked to the side to avoid eye contact with the boy. Their meeting wasn't a coincidence. It was fate that they met each other so why not be friends? Eli reassured Kohana that he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. Kohana was glad that she had someone that understood her. Eli was sweet, understanding, and he liked to joke around. He even accepted the fact that he was disabled. Those were the things she liked about him so far. She laughed when the boy joked about not being able to go into her dorm with her. It wouldn't exactly be awkward unless her roommates were running around the dorm without any clothes on. Then, that would be awkward. They could just sit in the dorm and watch a movie or something, but boys weren't allowed in the girls' dorm anyway. Same went for the girls. She nodded, agreeing that they should stick together.
"Special treatment... I know people want to help to be nice but they have to look at it from our point of view. And, I don't think they ever will..."
Kohana had never depended on anyone to help her get into her wheelchair. Even when she was a little girl, she would tell people to stay away and let her crawl up into her wheelchair. It's as if she thought she had achieved something if she could get into that wheelchair all by herself. Others would think that she was just stubborn and stupid. It meant the world to her when she could finally get up there on her own without any help. She understood that people just wanted to help because they were afraid she would get hurt, but like she said before, they had to look at it from her point of view. Yeah, it was hard for people to look at it that way, but they had to at least try and imagine. Kohana had no idea how it would work but it was like a deer with a broken leg. You shoot it to put it out of it's misery. It was like helping Kohana in her wheelchair so she wouldn't have to struggle. No, people were not going to look at her in that way and yet they still do. She smiled at Eli and tilted her head in a cute, girly way before a boy approached them. She didn't search for crutches, a wheelchair, or anything to tell her that he was like them.
"I'm good, although, it was kind of hard getting off that bus. Anyway, I'm Kohana. A pleasure to meet you, Kevin."

"I doubt it too," Elijah murmured. People never really tried to act like that, but even if they didn't know it, they always thought of themselves as almost more superior as opposed to Eli. It had been that way before, since he was more of a tech kid as opposed to one who was obsessed with sports, but then it wasn't as big a deal. He shrugged a bit before looking over at Kevin.
Eli was glad Kevin had taken a hint from their first meeting. He hadn't started their conversation so bluntly this time. When they had met, the first thing Kevin had said to Eli was "What happened to your legs?" Some people might think that was a personal question, and even though Eli didn't care if Kevin knew or not, it was rude.
"Nice to see you too, Kevin."

"So, Kohanna, what's your animal half?" He asked her. "I'm a wolf." He then turned back to Eli. "It's nice to see you, too."

Ah, so Eli and Kevin knew each other. A bright smile appeared on Kohana's face when Kevin told her what animal half he was. He was a wolf and so was she. Cool! They had something in common to talk about. "I'm a wolf, too. The maned wolf to be specific." The paralyzed girl believed that her legs were the way they were because of her animal half. The maned wolf had long legs, and Kohana's were long but very fragile. Her mother and father loved her until they found out that she still didn't have the ability to stand up after she was born. That's when they left her there to die. They thought she would die if she couldn't stand up and hunt with them, so they left her all by herself. But, then she was found by a couple that loved animals and kids. Of course, they didn't know that the girl they found starving to death was actually part wolf. When they found out her secret, they loved her even more and gave her everything she could possibly want. It was mostly out of pity for the paralyzed girl, but they loved her just as much.
