Benjamin pushed open the doors into the cafeteria. A silent sigh escaped his mouth at the sight of students inside. The noise level was practically unbearable for the spiky-haired teenager, with chairs scraping against the floor, multiple voices from different conversations speaking all at once, and the clanging of silverware. Ben resisted the urge to wince at the state of the lunchroom.
Quiet as ever, Benjamin made his way past the other half-bloods, not bumping into any of them. He picked up a tray and started picking out several kinds of cooked meat and a few vegetables, making sure that he and his animal half would be satisfied with his choice of food. Once done, Benjamin seated himself in the quietest, farthest table in the whole room. He didn't care that he was alone. It was quiet, and he had himself.

Ambrosia wandered into the Cafeteria, looking around at the other students and smoothing down strawberry-blonde hair. Walking over to the food tables, she picked out some bacon and a bread roll with a hash brown on it and looked around again for a vacant seat. Unfortunately, the only open one was in the corner with a teen, a little younger than her. Bounding over, she flicked a black wolf ear and pointed at the leather seat. "Can I sit here?" She asked sweetly.

Benjamin speared a piece of the sausage and popped it into his mouth, the taste of the meat satisfying his viper blood. His curved fangs were visible as he opened his mouth, drops of venom falling from the tips. Snake-like gold eyes darted from one person to another, memorizing every face and every location they were at or had been for the last five minutes. It calmed his mind as he did so; Ben enjoyed memorizing things and places. He had no idea why, but he didn’t bother finding out. The dark-haired half-blood continued to quietly finish his meal. Hopefully, he would be able to slip out of the cafeteria without being noticed or approached. Benjamin disliked having to hold conversations, more so because he didn’t ever talk and people seemed to be annoyed with that fact.
Unfortunately, his desire to remain undetected was disregarded. A blonde was approaching the table he was sitting at, and she appeared keen on talking to Benjamin as well. The half-snake met her gaze with his own unnerving cold stare. His pupils were slits, but he could see things very clearly. He blinked once and nodded his head. He wouldn’t talk anyway, so maybe she would leave after a few minutes of one-sided conversations. Ben just hoped that the female would not do something to probe at his temper. Snakes were normally very quiet, calm creatures but when provoked, will attack in a moment’s notice. Benjamin was exactly the same.

Ambrosia grinned as she realized that this half-blood was a snake. It wasn't exactly hard to tell - slitted pupils, fangs, and venom? Snake. Sitting down, she popped a bit of bread in her mouth, then chewed thoughtfully. "So," She said after a while. "Are you a snake? Because it looks like you are. I'm a black wolf cub." She blinked blue eyes innocently, and started to work on her huge piece of bacon.

Benjamin was slightly confused as to why Ambrosia was smiling like she had just found out something incredible. He put down his fork and sat up, elbows set on the long table. He continued to ponder over the strawberry-blonde girl’s disposition before her voice penetrated his thoughts. Oh, she was figuring out what type of animal he was. To answer her question, Ben nodded his head.
A wolf cub? A common species, he thought to himself. Benjamin picked up his french toast and bit out a chunk. His calculating serpent stare remained on Ambrosia, waiting for the girl to talk. Maybe she wouldn’t notice that he hadn’t even uttered a single word.

Ambrosia felt a small feeling of accomplishment as the snake half-blood nodded. Oh. On of the non-talkative ones? She thought to herself. "Sorry, I didn't catch your name... you new around here?" She asked. Her warm blue gaze darted restlessly around the Cafeteria, staring at the food. Nibbling her bacon, she then took a small bite out of it and chewed with relish.

Benjamin mentally sighed at the question. He didn't understand the point of exchanging names, but then again he didn't exactly converse with other people either so why would he know anything about their customs and habits? He supposed that it would make their job of talking easier, using names or several derivations of that name. Well, if he was going to be talking to this half-blood then he might as well tell her his name. Ben couldn't really care less.
The boy took out a plastic card that he always carried around in his pocket. It contained his name, but nothing else. He showed it to her so that she would be informed of his name, then put it back in his pocket. Benjamin used both of his hands to ruffle his already spiked-up and disheveled hair, once again waiting for the girl to continue their apparent conversation.

Angelica made her way into the cafeteria looking tired and just not in a good mood. Still feeling off the last few weeks. She mechanically made her way to the line and got herself some sushi and a coke before making her way to her usual place by the window. Passing by Ambrosia and Benjamin as she did so. "Hey kiddo." Angel smiled half heartedly as she ruffled ambrosia's hair affectionately before heading to her spot but did a double take when she realized who was sitting with the Wold cub. 'Wow I never thought he's actually come to such a crowded area.' She mused to herself before giving Ben a soft smile and a nod of greetings before heading to her window where she proceeded to sit on the cold floor with her tray in her lap whilst looking out the window.

Ambrosia opened her mouth to reply to their 'conversation' when Angelica walked by. "Hi, Angel!" She said, scrunching her eyes shut when she ruffled her strawberry-blonde hair. Peeking at the plastic card, she frowned a little but then smiled. "Are you mute?" She asked innocently. "And... 'Benjamin. Or call me Ben'." She read off the card. "Ok. Hi, Ben!" She said cheerily. God, what an awkward girl she was.

Benjamin toyed with his food, shifting them around his tray with his fork. His free hand raised subconsciously ruffled his already messy hair, making it look even more wild and spiky. Benjamin's tongue darted out of his mouth to wet his lips, peculiar eyes glancing up at the younger student in front of him every now and again. Why isn't she getting annoyed that I'm not talking? Well, granted, she is a few years younger and certainly the cheery type, the snake half-blood mused to himself. Just as long as she doesn't do anything stupid and tick you off, she might as well stay. I haven't got classes for at least a half hour and I have nothing to do.
Benjamin pulled himself away from his thoughts when a head of platinum-blonde hair and pristine white ears appeared in his peripheral vision. He looked up and sure enough, it was Angelica. They had met in the forest a couple of days back, and they had climbed a tree together too. It wasn't all that interesting, considering that Benjamin never spoke a word, but it occupied him enough and he remembered. He watched in mild interest whilst the teen greeted Ambrosia fondly. Benjamin found it obvious that they knew each other from past encounters. He gave her a nod back and let her leave, turning back to Ambrosia just in time for him to witness her calling him Ben. It was a common name amongst humans, and Ben was used to people—albeit only a small group—call him by that name.

She chuckled softly at the face ambrosia made and shook her head before returning to her food. Bringing out a notepad she began writing some stuff as she thought and ate. Humming absently to herself as she did so.

Ambrosia grinned and turned back to her food, this time attacking a crispy piece of bacon. She finished it and took a magenta-pink beanie out of her bag, with holes for her wolf ears. Sticking it on her ruffled hair, she blinked as she thought of the question that she'd momentarily forgotten. "Right. So... oh, yeah. Are you mute?" She asked stupidly. Nomming on another bit of bacon, she toyed with her black wolf tail and smiled again. "What type of snake are you?" She asked, trying to make some words appear out of that boy's mouth.

Benjamin nodded, confirming that he was, in fact, a mute. He was a selective mute, something that had been the result of an abusive past. Benjamin hadn’t talked ever since he was four, and he sincerely doubted that he would ever talk again. He pushed away his tray, his hunger having faded. When Ambrosia asked about what type of snake he was, Benjamin wondered how he would tell her.
In the end, Benjamin merely transformed when he was sure nobody was looking. He curled himself on top of the desk. Sharp, intelligent gold eyes peered up at the wolf half-blood. Spiked crimson and black scales glistened in the fluorescent light, deadly. Benjamin opened his mouth, reptilian tongue lashing out and venom-coated viper fangs becoming more visible. When he was sure Ambrosia had her fill of looking at him, Benjamin shifted back into his human form and sat back down on the chair. Both of his hands came up to dishevel his spiky dark brown hair.
