Benedict RhodinSapphire walked through the forest in a red and black jumpsuit she made a while back. Recently Sapphire was angry- extremely angry. She had heard rumors of Opal crumbling and didn't like it. Opal was the one Sapphire had learned some from; her mentor was falling apart. She had decided to take Opal's place and wreck havoc once again, just like her old pal used to. All of a sudden, a brown blur passed a tree. Sapphire looked around her for a big tree to climb and found one ten feet from her with thick branches. In less than a minute she had climbed the tree. Sapphire looked around for the blur and saw it once again, nibbling on a grass patch- a deer with white spots on its fur. She cautiously climbed down the tree and played a quick game of Dodge. Sapphire ran to the nearest tree and stopped. The deer looked up and around, but went back to eating within seconds. Sapphire ran to the next closest tree. The deer looked up again for a few more seconds than last time, but again went back to eating. Sapphire ran to the closest tree to the deer. The deer looked straight at the tree the assassin was hiding behind, took three steps back, turned around, and continued to eat. The brunette took her katana out of its sheath and lunged at the deer. The deer looked at Sapphire, panicked, then froze. Sapphire pinned the deer to the ground and put her katana back in its sheath. She took out a small foot-long silver knife. "Poor thing," Sapphire cooed. "Are you scared? Want to run? Well, I'm sorry. I haven't been to the cafeteria in a while- quite unfortunate for you."In a flash, the killer had slit the deer's throat. It let out a small cry before its head fell to the ground, lifeless. Blood gushed from the neck, luckily Sapphire was quick to stand up to avoid the flow. "My dinner." She smiled, a trance of evil in her grin as she started to drag the deceased dear up on a fairly large rock she found the day before.

The academy was safe once again. Everyone was comforted by that simple fact. Shadow, who everyone now knew was Opal Strole, had been locked away or killed - there were two rumors going around - and everyone assumed her apprentice assassin, Marie, went down with her. At last it was er felt more at safe to prowl the forest freely, and Ben couldn't resist that temptaion.
Ben's girlfriend must have had the same opinion, because he could smell her scent on the air. A lion's purr began at the base of his throat and worked it's way forward. Deciding to sneak up on her and pounce her playfully, he began following Sapphire's scent.
The scent of blood hit his nose like a rival lion pride's leader. If it wasn't for the sick, evil voice that rose up and around the trees and into Ben's ear, the scent of freshly-killed prey wold have been more than satisfying.
Ben rounded the corner of a tree. The demenor of the woman dragging the poor deer reminded Ben all too well of his girlfriend, and her scent didn't help much either; that horrified him. Quietly, he shifted into his human form and stepped out from behind the tree, hoping with all his life that he was wrong, that he was hallucinating.
His voice nearly cracked as he said her name: "Sapphire?"

| They're dating now? Okie then | Sapphire looked away from her food. She looked behind her and saw one of the people she wanted to see least at the moment- Ben, her boyfriend. No, no, no, no, no! She thought, panicking. Is this it? What is he going to say? Does he think I'm Marie? I am Marie, but I never intended for him to find out..."Ben!" Sapphire plastered a silly smile on her face. "Um... Great timing! I just caught a deer and I was gonna bring it to you since I knew you were half lion... Um, want to share it?" She tried to sugar-coat what he had most likely seen- her dragging the deer. He face showed a fair deal of disbelief, and Sapphire's stomach churned. Was this it? She might as well slit her own throat now...

|Yeah... They've been dating since their last thread, remember?|
Fear overwhelmed Ben. He felt dizzy, not because of the blood, but because it all made sense. What Marie - Sapphire - had said at the concert the assassins used to claim control of the school, why Sapphire seemed so unwilling to be with him at first or to confide in him. It all made sense. He comprehended what his... his murderous girlfriend was saying, but there was no way it was true. No way, regardless of how much he wanted to believe it. "Tell me it's not true," Ben demanded, hurt glimmering behind his eyes. He refused to cry. "Tell me the truth - no more lies. Are you Marie."

| Oh I forgot DON'T DO DRUGS, KIDS (remember that car on our way home from yogurt? | This was it. Ben wouldn't love her anymore. All her chances of love would be ruined forever. This would stain her mind for the rest of her life. One tear... Two tears... Three... Sapphire broke down crying. She wiped the deer's blood on her black pants, then set down her knife. "Yes, I am Marie!" She cried uncontrollably. Sapphire pulled her knees to her chest and cried. She didn't care if Ben came to comfort her or not. He probably wouldn't- he would be scared of her and run. That's what anyone would do. She cried, cried and wished for her life to be over. Opal, kill me now. Just throw a knife at my head and it can all be over.

|"THANK YOU" OMG lol|
As shock put Ben on overdrive, he stood there, unceratian. He wasn't sure how to react. This girl had sided with a murderer who had killed two dozen students in a bloody massacre, had sliced his brother, had killed and tortured mercilessly. The deer was proof. If she had simply killed it, simply eaten it, and simply been done with, he he wouldn't have minded her killing it. But Ben could see her ruthlessness now reflected in the fear of the poor creature. So Ben just sat there, unceratain. He sat down against a tree several feet away, his gaze resting on... on her. "Just tell me everything so I understand," Ben said after some time. "Tell me and we can get over it and fix this, okay? Okay?"

Her tears stopped. Ben was still there? After her killing the deer, and her uncontrollable crying, he was still there? He still cared? Or maybe he was just curious and didn't care at all.
She sniffled and wiped her tears off on her forearms. I have to tell my story again, as I have many times before...
"I was a cheerful, happy kid until I was seven years old. My parents divorced and my dad accidentally received custody of me. The court didn't know he had a drinking problem. As soon as my mom moved out, my dad started coming home every night drunk out of his mind." She winced and small tears crawled down her cheeks. Sapphire stopped and took a few uneven breaths. "More and more often I was absent from school. My dad would give me breakfast in the early morning, lock me in my room and went downstairs to drink. He let his drinks digest for a few hours, then when night came he'd leave for the bar. Often he'd forget to feed me for a few days because of his hangovers- the longest I went without food was a week. I started to miss school and lose contact with my friends."
"Half a year after my mom left, the abuse started. My dad would hit me, with his hands and his belt. No one at school cared when I came to school with long red marks on my arms and legs. I hated my teachers and my fellow classmates." Sapphire stopped for a second to catch her breath and cry for a couple of seconds. She dried her tears and continued.
"I stopped going to school all together when I was ten. I grew to hate my mom for leaving, and hate my dad even more for all the suffering and pain I was going through. My neighbors never heard my screams of pain- or at least, they heard and didn't care. Life was getting worse and worse for me as I grew older, and every night I went to bed hungry, crying, and wishing for everything to be over."
"One morning, when I was seventeen, my dad came into my room, hung over as usual. He threw a couple bags of chips at me and yelled for me to stuff my face with them. My dad left the room, and I hid the bag in a secret box in my closet where I kept food I wanted to save. I put my ear and listened for the slam of the back door and the click of the lock that I heard when my dad left the house. He yelled, 'Bye, baby boo!' and slammed the back door. I listened for the click of the lock... But I didn't hear one. After a couple of minutes I shook my door, trying to open it. I examined the door's material, seeing if I could break the door down. I had never noticed before how cheap the door was... I was able to kick it down within three tries."
"I packed my bags, stole some of my dad's money, raided our fridge and left. To make the rest of the story short, I made my own little place in a city alley and learned how to use a variety of swords and sais. A year after my escape from my home, I found a random scrap of paper in the alley I lived in. It was a ticket to the academy. I went to the bus stop the ticket said to go to, bags packed and all, ready for a new home. But on the bus I realized I hated how I was treated, running around looking for food, practically homeless. I wanted others to feel all of my pain, receive the scars I hold, mentally and physically. I made an alliance with Shadow and called myself Marie. And... And... That's how I am where I am."
One tear... Two tears... Three... Sapphire started to cry. Not uncontrollably- she still had a bit of control. She sniffled and gasped, wiped her nose and cheeks on her sleeve and looked up at Ben with puffy red eyes.
"I... I hope you understand."

Her words touched him deeply, stirring emotions in him he didn't expect to feel for a trained assassin. When Sapphire had finished her story, he just sat back, his hands tucked neatly in his lap and his eyes closed, listening to the forest - not thinking - just listening. Feeling the wind and the pain; hearing the stream in the distance and the mocking male's voice; knowing he was here and she was there and everything was happening and had happened. Ben sat silent for many minutes, letting time pass. Ben stood without saying anything, just stood and watched her for a second, then walked over, crouched, and attempted to rest his hand on Sapphire's chin to lift it up. His eyes searching for contact with hers, the young lion half-blood leaned in and made an attempt to kiss Sapphire, softly, but with a great amount of honesty.
