The orange-yellow bus drove on for what seemed like several hours. One of the new students of Animalia Academy, Umeko, was sitting at the front and looking out the window. Unlike other students that lived around the area, Umeko was curious about everything passing by. Umeko was a foreign exchange student, and she had only been in the Unites States for a few months. Her English was fairly good. Umeko had always had a thing for picking up on different languages. It was great that she practiced multilingualism over the past one or two years. It was always her dream to go to the United States. "If I go to a different country, I must speak their language." That was how she looked at it. If someone from the United States came to Japan, he/she must learn her language because she wasn't going to waste her time trying to understand someone's language when he/she came to her country. It was only fair to her. Her brown ears remained hidden underneath her dark brown hair, and her long brown tail rested on her lap. Her tail wagged slightly out of excitement and a little bit of edginess. The school was coming into view and it was quite intimidating...

Rosemary was sitting down on the steps by the academy, doing an old math worksheet she had found in a fallen recycling bin. She pressed the cold metal of the eraser end of the pencil against her cheek as she thought about the question she was on. If 125/x=25, what is the value of x? The question taunted her as she thought about ways to solve it.
The pink-haired girl heard a bus coming and looked up from her work. A girl was standing in front of the bus, and to Rosemary it looked as if she just got off. Rosemary tried to mind her business and go back to her work, but her feline senses instructed her otherwise. She tried not to be impolite and stare at the girl, but it was extremely hard, as she felt something weird with this new teen.

The bus had finally came to a slow hault. Umeko's dog ears pinned flat against her head when the brakes made a screeching sound. Why were buses so noisy? When the bus came to a complete stop, Umeko stood up and grabbed her suitcase. It didn't make sense. She would need more than one suitcase's worth of clothing. Who knew how long she would be in hiding with others like her. Umeko walked off the bus and she studied the school's exterior once again. She clutched the handle of her suitcase and looked a bit worried. Not only had she just moved there not long ago but it was her freshman year in high school. Umeko extended out her handle and let the small wheels on the suitcase roll as she walked toward the school.

| Oops just realized she hadn't walked off the bus yet | Rosemary twirled her long, pink hair with her index finger and thought harder about her problem. Oh, duh! X=5! She smiled and wrote down the answer with her pencil in the provided space. After she had written her answer, she looked up to see if the girl was moving along. She was moving towards the school with a rolling suitcase. I haven't seen one of those in a while! Rosemary grinned. She remembered when she had first came to the academy. She was shy- very shy. And quiet, too. She didn't want the girl to feel the same, that is, if she was new. Rose figured she might as well introduce herself and inform her about everything that had been going on at the academy so she would be aware. She walked towards the girl. "Hey, are you new here?" Rosemary smiled shyly and extended her hand for the teen to shake. "I'm Rosemary Jackson, half cat."

(No, it's fine xD)
Umeko had noticed the girl sitting on the steps with a piece of paper and maybe a pen or pencil in her hand. It looked like she was deep in thought over the paper. Maybe she was doing homework. Great... Hopefully Umeko wouldn't get stacked up with homework on her first day. Although, she didn't mind the challenge. Umeko liked to learn new things in school especially if it would become useful in the future. Umeko continued to approach the school and every once in a while she would glance down at the wheels on her suitcase. The wheels on her suitcase didn't seem to bother her. Normally the loud sound of the wheels rolling would drive her up the wall, but the wheels on her suitcase didn't make a lot of noisy.
The transfer student stopped there and blinked at the pink-haired girl that approached her. Her purple eyes looked around for anyone else nearby that the stranger might have been looking at instead of being mistaken for looking at Umeko. No, it was the two of them. Umeko looked to the girl that had approached her and she gulped nervously. The girl had kindness in her voice and yet Umeko remained uneasy about the situation. Then, the girl extended out her hand to shake Umeko's hand. Umeko was never on board with the whole shaking hands thing. It was a simple greeting, but she didn't feel comfortable touching a stranger, even if it was just a handshake. Grin and bare it. Umeko reached out and shook Rosemary's hand gently, making it a bit awkward.
She tried to hide behind her dark brown hair, hoping she was as hidden as her dog ears when she would be roaming around in the human world. Umeko nodded in response to the girl's question. "H-Hi. I'm Umeko.. Bazaar." Oh, great. Rosemary was a cat. It wasn't the whole cat and dog relationship that kept Umeko at a distance from cats. Umeko was afraid of them. Yep! A big canine such as herself was afraid of cats.

She smiled kindly at the nervous-looking girl. It was almost like Umeko was an exact replica of Rosemary a few years ago. Definitely the shy type, or at least by Rose's judgement.
"What brings you here to the academy?" Rosemary retracted her hand. It was hard to see Umeko because of her dark brown hair, but she still wanted to have a conversation with the girl. "And by the way, don't be afraid to hide who you are here. Be proud of your attributes. Just don't show them to humans- some of them aren't exactly friendly." Opal and Marie popped into her head. Rosemary didn't want to have to be the one to tell poor little Umeko about the assassins, but after all, she was the one who had greeted her.
She took a liking to Umeko. She was tiny, small, looked young, and was cute. She wanted Adam to be with her so he could meet the adorable little half-blood. Rose could see the dog ears on top of the girl's head. Rosemary didn't care that Umeko was a dog- the whole cat and dog thing was pretty stereotypical anyways.

Her purple eyes glanced around nervously and rapidly. Then, her eyes slowed down when she realized what a weirdo she must have looked like to the girl standing in front of her. Umeko shied away from Rosemary and tried to hide into her hair again. Her awkwardness would only make Rosemary think she was really weird. What should I do!? Rosemary started talking about self-confidence. It wasn't like the movies, though. It would take time for Umeko to open up on her own. Umeko was proud of herself because she had done more than anyone that had ever picked on her. But, whenever she tried to make friends and be herself around people, the more people would dislike her.
Umeko started to constantly worry if she was annoying people or making things awkward. Every single word she said, she had to think about before saying it. And, she would be so scared to answer a simple question as if she was second guessing a math problem. She mostly stayed away from people because she didn't want to be a waste of time to them if she tried to worm her way into their life and mess it up. "T-Thanks... You said.. you were a cat. I-I mean, a cat half-blood! I didn't mean to... um... anyway, you'll probably make fun of me. A big canine.. afraid of cats. I'm a dog half-blood. German Shepherd."
