Two black Converse sneakers hit the concrete lightly. Sapphire O'Connor was finally at the Academy. Her blue eyes gazed around, hoping to find any signs of life to torture. Or, maybe kill. It depended on what she was in the mood for. She had been wandering about for a year, all of the boiling anger inside of her building up. She was tortured and she hated it- and the only way she would ever feel even the slightest bit happy again is if she tortured someone in the same ways. But, if she couldn't torture someone right away, she would have to become their friend first. Friends. The subject wasn't a pleasant one for her. She knew what friends were, but she couldn't remember any that she ever had. She was kept in her father's house for ten years, how could she have any friends? Sapphire kept her sword behind her, so she wouldn't seem like a threat at first. At first. Of course she would become a threat later, she had a sword she would use for torture. "Anyone around this stupid place?" She muttered.

|LOL Opal and Sapphire are going to be a perfect pair Opal has so much to teach. She's been planning all her life (and training, granted) and Sapphire is all beef| Another newbie, eh? Zalman alighted gently from the sky on the concrete a few feet away from the new young woman. It was just as well someone new was arriving. Zal was starting to get bored, despite his new girlfriend, though he hardly ever saw Jess anyway. I should really fix that. "That's, eh, not weapon, right?" The half-blood asked warily, noticing a stick behind her, and tucked his wings against his back only lightly, so that he could flee at the nick of a dime if necessary.

She noticed the wings behind the man's back. The people at this Academy were half animal? Now she wanted to kill them more than ever. They were so special, and she was just a dumb human with no special attributes whatsoever. And when she saw him notice the katana, she knew she needed to act like it was nothing.
"What weapon? That round thing? Oh, that's just... uh, a world map for my dorm." She grinned to cover the lie and tried to act happy. "My name is... uh, Marie. I'm from... uhm... France. Yeah, long trip, I know." If she was going to become a threat later, why give away her real name?

Zal blinked. Something just didn't feel... Right to him. He smiled all the while, because that was something he was known for, and nodded. "Nice to meet you, Marie. You must be soooo exhausted. I can show you to the dorm rooms, if you'd like?"
(gahhh I hate typing on iPads)

| Lol. Try tilting the iPad on its side then typing- it might help. |
Okay, this guy was friendly. Way too friendly for Sapphire's taste. She disliked people who were constantly happy, and this boy seemed to be constantly happy. Ugh, people these days. Sapphire thought.
"Yeah. A trip to the dorms would be nice. I'm in Dorm 13, I think." She said, emotionless, a tad bit mad even. She couldn't wait to start killing things, especially people.

(I was thinking he walks with here there?)
Zal smiled, though in reality, bit of nervous unease pricked his fingers. Thats Jess's dorm, he thought nervously. "This way," he noted, ducking his head towards the dorms and starting off. "If you don't mind me asking, what's your half-blood shift?"

| Oh okay. So no thread then? |
She followed him, and started to panic a little. She hadn't given it much thought, which animal she would be. Up until meeting the boy she thought the dumb Academy was just one for normal teens and adults. Sapphire decided to pretend that she was sensitive about that question and embarrassed about her animal half.
"Oh, um, I'd rather not say. I'm really ashamed of my animal half- it's a really pathetic animal. I try to stay in human form as much as I can." Sapphire tried to act as embarrassed as she could. If she couldn't, her secrets could be revealed, and she wouldn't be able to seek revenge.

Something really doesn't feel right, Zal thought, though keeping the smiled, toning it down warmer. "Animalia is a place for being true to your half-blood form," Zalman reminded her, itching a wing. "I understand why you wouldn't want to share your half-blood shift, but remember that everyone here is going to be respectful about it."

"I... I know. I... I left the human world so I could stop the teasing but... I guess that part of me, that part of me telling me to hide my differences, is still there." A tear dribbled down Sapphire's cheek. It was a fake tear for the present, but a real tear for the past. That tear ran down her cheek because she was thinking about her mother, who had divorced her father a long time ago.

Zal opened his arms for a hug, his nature for sympathy kicking in. "It's okay, I understand. Just keep it in mind, okay? I'm Zalman, by the way."

The Marie personality, which was on the outside, hugged him gracefully. But the Sapphire personality, which was on the inside, shooed the hug away as if it was a smelly, rotting egg. "Zalman... What a handsome name!" Sapphire plastered a fake smile to her face and giggled like a five-year old as she pretended to flirt with him. She didn't like him one bit. But if she was going to act like a stupid, shy girl she would have to actually act the part.

"Eurgh.. Thanks," Zalman responded, confused. Suddenly having the girl pretty much fall into his arms was awkward and flattering at the same time, and his survival instinct told him that he needed to get out of the situation. "So, you're from France? How come you don't have an accent?" he asked, wanting to change the subject.

| Sorry for the late reply! |
Oh goodness. She hadn't thought about that, how she didn't have an accent. And his sudden confusion, which she did indeed notice, gave her a clue that she might not have been doing the best job of concealing her identity. So, quickly Sapphire made up another lie.
"Well, you see, I'm 18. So I lived in France until I was 15, when I moved to California. I guess I just ditched the accent when I arrived there!" She laughed instead of giggling to make her seem just a tad bit more mature. "So, what is the Academy like?" Sapphire asked, fluttering her eyelashes at him in a flirty way. Ugh, if I have to keep acting like this for the rest of the day, I'm gonna puke! If I have to keep acting like this for the rest of the week, I might not even live! Just her thought almost made her gag, but she held it back, and plastered another stupid smile to her face.

Concerned yet again, Zal raised an eyebrow, and though he still was wary, he shook of the feeling, rather taking to simply brushing his hair out of his eyes by running his fingers through his hair. Maybe she's just self-conscious of where she came from, which is why she wont tell me the truth? he told himself, though part of him doubted. After all, people don't lose their accents after a few years. They never really drop them "Well, eh, here we are," Zal noted, gesturing with a hand towards the building in front of them.

She stared blankly at the building for a few seconds, but she regained her fake cheerfulness. "Wow! This is the dorms? It's... uh, incredible!" She smiled, trying not to show any evil in it.
Sapphire took a few steps forward. This was it. Her entire future lay in her hands. She had choices. She could go get settled in her dorm and take on a role as a student, but torture everyone whenever she could, and keep her identity a secret. Or she could go get settled in her dorm and take on a role as a student, but throw away her katana and be nice to everyone. And if she didn't like those options, she could ditch all her luggage but her katana and go survive in the woods. If she chose that, though, she would set a rule for herself: Forget about the past, focus on the present, forget about the future. Quickly, she reviewed all those options in her mind, and chose one without a second thought.
The first option sounded best to her.
"Thanks for showing me the dorms, Zalman!" She said, as cheerful as she could. Zalman, Zalman. That's his name. Don't forget it. In fact, Sapphire, don't forget anyone's name at all. If you know everyone but no one knows you, or at least your real name and info, it will give you a big advantage. She lectured herself in her thoughts. "I think I can take things from here. But, we should hang out soon. In California I didn't live near any big forests, so maybe if there's a forest here could you show me it someday?"

People always got cheerful around the dorms, so Zalman took that as a sign of good closure. Grinning widely, he nodded. "I'd love to. I'll let Claire - her Miss Blakely, now that she's principal - I'll let her know you arrived."

She gulped. I don't want her to know I arrived! But wait... My fake personality! Her thoughts put her in a state of panic for a second, but when she realized she had her second and fake personality, she turned to cheerful. "Of course! 'Ms. Blakely, Marie... Marie Campbell has arrived!'" She grinned and mimicked Zalman in a playful way. "Bye!" She said to him before she took off running towards the dorms.
