Stepping off of the bus, Cindy Collins scanned the school campus surrounding her with semi-reptilian aqua eyes. Many students were lounging around, chatting, and walking in various directions. She noted that many students had animal characteristics, such as ears, tails, even a few wings. 'Yep, I am definitely at the right place' the snake half blood thought as she walked into the school. The inside was buzzing with life, students going this way and that, trying to get to class on time, or are already late. The students chatter echoed through the halls, and the over whelming scent of animals made Cindy cringe. Trying to escape the stuffy hall, Cindy found herself in the courtyard, surveying a scene not to different from the front of the school. Sighing, she started to walk around the yard, trying to get used to the format of the school... until she bumped into someone, and fell down. "Sorry" She blurted out.

Elijah wasn't usually one not to pay attention. So when somebody bumped into the back of him, he was extremely lucky not to have lost balance and fallen down. Given his condition it would have been much harder to get up than it was for everyone else. That said, the caramel blonde teen did let out an "oof" noise and staggered forward, almost falling flat on his face if he hadn't moved his crutches to break his fall fast enough. After a while you tended to learn how to be quick about not falling.
He turned around, looking down on the younger girl who had fallen down from the force of the impact. It was nice to know that Eli was still steady enough to make somebody else fall without doing anything, but he shrugged off the thought and lowered himself as much as he could on his crutches.
"Are you okay?" he asked. "I would help you up, but I think that would end up with me falling too," he explained, gesturing to his crutches. "I can't exactly move my hands as much as somebody else could, as you can see."

Cindy giggled at the older teen's explanation, and got back up easily. "Its, OK. I should have looked were I was going." She said as she brushed the dirt off her skirt. "I guess we were both lucky you didn't fall" she added, pointing to his crutches. "No offense!" she said, realizing what she just said might offend the teen.

Eli shrugged. "Don't worry about it," he replied. "I've gotten worse comments." People making jokes with him about his crutches? Fine. Elijah accepted his disability, and made jokes about it all the time. What got him was when people just walked up to him and asked him what happened right off the bat. It wasn't all that personal, no, but he thought it was still rude to ask a question that could be very personal like that.
"So, new girl," Eli started. "Got a name or what?" He extended his hand as best as he could, offering for a handshake. "I'm Elijah, but everyone calls me Eli."

Cindy shook his hand and smiled, "Hi, my name Cindy, Cindy Collins." She said, letting go of his hand, and picking a leaf out of one of her very long pigtails. "So... not new guy, what animal are you? I don't really see any ears or tails" she asked.

"Yeah, I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones," he noted, then thought about it for a bit. "Or one of the lucky ones. Depends on who you ask, I guess." He shrugged again. "I'm a golden sparrow. I guess I would have wings, but my mom wasn't a half-blood so perhaps that's why I don't have any animal characteristics. My dad was a hawk, and he had wings."

Elijah's mom had died. She was assumed to be a halfblood, but even though she wasn't was affiliated with them...and Eli and his dad couldn't save her. Eli had always been more like his mom, and he had been only 12 when it happened. After that, Eli had put his hacking skills to the test, and he and his dad moved from place to place, staying on the run. Whenever Eli got reports of a half-blood spotted nearby, they would be gone from the area. Needless to say, Eli had worked a habit of liking to know what was going on around. He liked knowing the maps to places, and was good and memorizing codes and maps.
"Cool," Eli smiled.

Cindy looked at ground, not knowing what else to say. This conversation was over. Time to start a new one!
Cindy smiled. "So, how long have you gone to this school? Do you know any other snakes? What is your favorite color? Do you like music?" she asked REALLY quickly, gasping for air after, then showing an even brighter smile.

"A month or two, dark red, and it's okay," Eli answered. This girl was rather bubbly, wasn't she? "Calm down, you don't need to ask so quickly, I'm still not going anywhere."
(I'm really lazy. Muse for this thread has died)
