It was around noon, and there was a platinum blonde-haired girl sleeping underneath a tall, pine tree. Her suitcase was set behind her back. It was late at night when she had arrived at the academy the other day. No one was awake to assign her a dorm and give her the key to her dorm. The only person that was awake that night was Logan and maybe even some nocturnal half-bloods. Logan wasn't much help since he wasn't the principal or part of the student council. Lauren decided to camp out in the forest for the night until the waking morning. Then, she could go hunt down the principal or whoever else was in charge and get herself settled in. Camping out in the forest wasn't that bad. It was peaceful except for when the wolves started talking to each other and the yappy coyotes. The neko slept soundly underneath the tree, leaning against her suitcase that was leaning up against the tree and her knees pulled up halfway to her chest. She was going to be surprised at what time it was. It was a rough night, though, so she deserved to wake up later than usual. Sleep was important. Her black ears twitched when she sensed that she was not alone. Lauren couldn't exactly pin point it... Maybe it was a bird. Zalman Artar

As a matter of fact, it was a bird, but not a bird. A half-blood by the name of Zalman. He had been so caught up by his meeting the day before with Jess, his new crush, that he had ended up flying around in his eagle form for hours, well into the morning. Tired, Zalman glided down to the forest below, having run out of thoughts and moments to repeat in his head without dying of boredom. He landed silently on a branch in a tall tree, and looked around, fluffing his feathers up before tucking them to his side. It took Zal a moment, but his eagle eyes scouted out a human - no, half-blood - sleeping like a cat. Flying closer, silently, he confirmed that she was a cat, and landed on the ground nearby, turning into his human form as he landed, tucking large black wings into his back and running a hand through his white hair. "Wake up, sunshine!" he said, smiling. "You look like you've been chasing mice in your sleep!"

"So loud..." She complained and rolled over onto her side. Her back was facing Zalman now. Hopefully, it wasn't the coyotes again. Not that the half-blood sounded like a coyote. Lauren rolled back over onto her back and opened her reddish pink eyes sleepily. She rubbed her aching eyes and her eyes started to open a little bit more. Her vision was kind of blurry but it cleared up soon. She was right about there being a bird.
A bird half blood that is. Lauren blinked at him and laughed slightly to herself. "Chasing nice would be a good thing, though." She sat up against the tree and looked up at the boy. "I'm Lauren. What is your name?" Men... I swear, they have no manners..

|LOL Ikr?|
Zal smiled wider. "Zalman, my princess Sleeping Beauty," he said, bowing like a prince. "Now, may I ask why you're sleeping against a tree and a suitcase when you could be tucking into a bed - or curled up, mind you - in a dorm room?"
|So short. Sorry|

"E-Eh!?" A slightly dark red blush appeared across her face. Princess Sleeping Beauty? Where the heck did that come from? The girl let out a sigh and didn't bother to carry that conversation on. "Oh... well, hello, Zalman." This guy was kind of strange. Her black ears perked up when he asked her that question. Of course, someone would ask that! He probably thought she was the weird one. "It was late last night when I got here... No one was awake to assign me a dorm let alone give me a key to it. I thought it would just be easier to camp out here for the night. Um.... Do you know what time it is?" It just didn't look like it was morning for some reason. It was actually around noon when she had woken up. (Haha it's okay.)

The boy shrugged. "Sometime around noon, I'd think," he said, his Swedish accent slipping through. "But who cares? Eh, well, you obviously, but.. you know what I mean." Zalman's smile never seemed to falter. Suddenly chilled by a strong gust of wind, he stretched his large wings out and around his upper body, warmed by they're heat, but also making him look like a large feathered burrito.

Ugh... It was noon? The neko didn't like waking up so late. She would normally wake up at 8 o'clock in the morning. If she woke up late, it would make it harder for her to stay awake. Early in the morning, she would make herself get dressed and do her regular morning routine right away so she'd be awake and ready to face the day. Lauren chuckled and nodded, agreeing that she somewhat cared about what time it was. "It's okay... I'm not that worried about it." She shuddered and rubbed her arms with her hands quickly, trying to keep warm. Brrr! It was so cold! Sometimes she felt like it was too cold to go to school. Her hair blew in her face, and she groaned as she got some of her hair in her mouth. She brushed her hair out of her face when the wind died down. Lauren laughed at herself and said, "Ah~ The joys of having long hair.. especially on a windy day."

Zalman, feeling warmer, looked over his black wings and smiled. "Ugh, I know, right? I mean, how do you handle this stuff!?" he exclaimed, shaking his head as a few strands of long-for-a-dud white hair flew into his eyes. "Are you cold?" Maybe he had a.. girlfriend... the word was new on his tongue - but he was sure Jess would understand his hospitality. "I mean, it's warm over here," he continued, opening his wings a bit. They were really big, so it was more of a tent when he stretched them out in front in a cylinder shape, so they wouldn't be too close anyway.

"I guess I just deal with it because I like my long hair." Heck, she really liked her hair. Sometimes she threatened to cut it short but that wouldn't happen any time soon. Maybe she would cut it short during the summer and try the new hairdo. "No, I'm okay." Actually she wasn't. She was freezing her butt off but she didn't want him to know that.
Lauren rubbed her arms some more and pulled her knees up to her chest, huddling close to the tree. She shook her head in response to his kind offer. "No, I'm fine, really. So, you're a bird half blood? Mind me asking what kind of bird?"

Girls. So independent. So full of pride. She's not really like Sleeping Beauty, though she is beautiful, I must say. Zalman didn't buy it, but he let it slide for the time being. "Eagle," he responded simply, poking an arm out of his cocoon, offering his hand for her to stand up.
|Wow, there goes my muse. Sorry. Again|

It was about time someone took her independence seriously. Most guys would press on further, and that just annoyed her. But, it was just a mask that she was wearing. Lauren wanted to cuddle with a blanket, pillow, or maybe even take up Zalman's offer and comfort herself with the warmth of his large, black wings. Eagle, huh? She didn't recall any eagles having black wings. That sparked an interest inside her. Her deep pink eyes blinked at him as he reached out to her through his wings. Lauren hesitated a little before she reached out and grabbed Zalman's hand. "I'm a cat half-blood." she introduced herself and flicked her black tail. "Ragdoll cat. One of the several domesticated cats out there. Nothing special."
(Sorry my bad. I didn't give you much to reply on.)

Zalman smiled. She had taken the bait! With a quick jerk of his arm, he attempted to pull Lauren into his encloser and trap her in the space. "You know," he said, smirking mischievously. "It may sound like I'm hitting on you, but I think everyone is special in their own way. So even you are, even if you're animal form isn't that unique. Actually, I've never even heard of a ragdoll cat, so you are special in the sense that you're like a myth." It was meant to be a kind comment, but it may have had come out a little rude. Not many girls liked to be called a myth, as far as Zal knew.

(I'm so stupid lol I didn't notice that he was going to do that until I was close to finishing up my reply.)
Woah! What was with that smile he had on his face? Boys were so weird. The man jerked on her arm and that's when she realized what he was doing. Oh, great.. Zalman had pulled her close and wrapped his wings around the both of them. Just great... That annoyed her. He was annoying her and he ignored what she said before! Zalman was right about that. It may have sounded like he was hitting on her a little. To her, it was just weird and awkward. Like dude, give the girl some space. "Haha okay then..." Suddenly, Lauren felt the warmth of his wings. It made her shudder slightly since she was freezing at first and then she made contact with warmth. "U-Ugh... Gosh darn you. I told you I wasn't cold.. but thanks I guess."

Zalman smiled, and though it didn't show, he too felt a little awkward. He shifted his wings a little so that there was more room - at least a foot of distance between them - and smiled. "Welcome," he responded, trying not to wonder too much about whether he liked the girl or not. No, no way. I'm just being nice, and he was right. He was a hospitable man. "I half expected you to grow claws and scratch my eyeballs out," he teased, only half joking, "And trust me, this reaction of your's is much more preferred."

Lauren was so close to Zalman that she was afraid to breathe, thinking he would be able to hear her breathing and her heartbeat. It felt so weird! Finally, Zalman gave them both some room and she could breathe without worrying about breathing on him. It's not like her breath stunk. Did it? It was just one night and morning without brushing. Hopefully, it was okay. Wait, why the heck was she worried about her breath? It was just awkward. That's all it was. Lauren nodded, thinking about it that way. It sounded like something she would do. That's if he tried anything like hurting her. Then, she would bring out the claws. "No, I'm not like that unless it really was in your intentions to hit on me. I'm not an easy target, you see. I would hope you wouldn't stoop that low for me again or anyone else for that matter."

The boy chuckled again. "Lauren, I have a girlfriend, mind you," he said, actually liking the idea of saying so. "Even if it seams like it, I'm not trying to hit on you. Also, I don't doubt you're an easy one. Girls are actually harder than most of you think. And I can tell you're a strong one, too." Zal grinned, Looking up to the sky. "You ready to go get settled into a dorm? Claire would be more than awake by now," he said before anything else could be. "Plus, I have to admit this is awkward, and we both want to be on our way." He returned his eyes down towards Lauren.

Lauren nodded and narrowed her eyes at the winged man. "That's good.." It wasn't in her intentions to hit on him either, which she wasn't doing. It was good he had a girlfriend. Hopefully, his girlfriend would keep him in line. As long as he didn't try anything, he would be on good terms with her and not on her bad list. Oh, yeah! She had lists, too, like Santa Clause. Mentally, though. Lauren tried her best not to fall into that. Zalman thought she was a strong girl. She was but she knew if she boasted about it, he might use that against her. Flattery wasn't going to get him anywhere with her. "Okay. That sounds like a good idea."

Zalman nodded and pulled his wings back like they were drapes, tucking them behind him and shrugging at his next thought. "I'm sure you'll want to walk all the way back instead of my taking you back as friends?" He said, pretty sure he knew she wouldn't want him flying her back to the academy, though he also knew it was kind to ask. After all, he assumed they were friends. Right? Or was he just a creep? For once, he was worried Lauren didn't like him, and he chewed on his lip a little, waiting in agony, even if it didn't seem like long, for her answer, because he didn't know if he could bare being thought of as a creep.

Lauren took a few steps back away from Zalman. Her personal space was still kind of invaded, even when he gave her some space. Her personal space bubble was pretty big. That showed how bad she was with people, but she was doing pretty good with the other half-bloods. Take me back as in flying!? The thought made her shudder in fear of being up so high. "U-Um... Let's walk. Not because of that but... um... Come on, let's go!" she said and started walking off... in the wrong direction. It had nothing to do with her being carried by him.
Zalman was looking at everything wrong. She wouldn't have even thought of it being that way until Zalman pointed it out. What was his deal? He kept on making everything he did or say sound weird like he liked her. If he didn't explain everything, Lauren wouldn't have noticed. Whenever he explained something he said or did, it would make her think that way of him. The neko was still dwelling on the thought about being up so high. Too high! Too high! I couldn't possibly do that... And, she wasn't going to let Zalman know about her fear of heights.

Without and surprise within him, Zalman blinked and shrugged. Figures. Good job! You scared her away! He was about to say goodbye and just fly away when she started going the wrong way back. Maybe she had asked him to join her without really saying so, but he did feel a little.. crushed. Zalman was worried he had gotten too close to Lauren, and didn't want to risk breaking his relationship with Jess, not so soon, not ever. Awgh, I can't leave her like that. Flying the distance that the girl hand crossed, Zal hovered by her, a few feet off the ground. "Uh," he said, rubbing his arm, still embarrassed, "It's that way." And he was pointing the opposite direction. He smiled, though it didn't really have a warm emotion as it usually did, and he shrugged.

"I-I knew that.." she muttered as she made a U turn to walk in the right direction. It would definitely help, and she also forgot to grab her things. Lauren walked over to the tree and grabbed her suitcase, dragging it on the ground since it had wheels on it. They weren't far from the academy, but she could get easily lost in the forest. It was like an endless, twisted loop for some people. She stopped herself and looked back at Zalman with those big, gleaming deep pink eyes of hers. All of it felt so weird. Lauren opened her mouth to ask for Zalman to walk with her, but she just pressed her lips and looked in front of her. "Thanks..." She grabbed her suitcase once more and headed off in the direction of the academy
(She'll get lost and end up going in circles xD Just make Zalman go somewhere, and she'll meet with him again.)

|Figures | Zalman grinned again, waving and nodding as she left. Pushing off the ground, he soared into the air, his arms tucked to his side, flying high in the sky. He descended a time later into a grove of large boulders and folded his wings to his back, leaning against them with one leg drawn up and the other stretched out, and his head tilted back against the rock. Soon he drifted off into sleep, tired to the point of forgetting his accidents of the day long enough to drift off so deeply, he didn't hear footsteps approach after a good hour of napping.

Lauren was walking through the forest for quite a while. Ugh! Zalman pointed her in the right direction, and they weren't far from the academy. How could she get lost so quickly!? I'm terrible at this.. She walked into the grove that had a bunch of large boulders. The neko kind of had a feeling that she wasn't any closer to the academy then she was before. How could that be even be possible? Lauren noticed someone leaning against a rock. It was strange. The half-blood had large, black wings like Zalman. She slowly walked around and gasped when she found out that it was Zalman! "Uh... hey." Lauren shuffled her feet nervously and tried to avoid Zalman's gaze. "I.. I don't know how to get back." she admitted and glanced at him.

Blinking his eye open and sitting up straight, he noticed Lauren sitting next to him and rubbed his eyes. "Oh. Well, it's fine. You're not part salmon, so I don't blame you," he said, yawning. Standing and stretching his wings, he gestured for Lauren to follow him. He wasn't one for walking, but he tucked his wings away and walked, knowing the way home by heart.

(Completely forgot he was asleep xD Talk about Zalman being rude, waking up Lauren earlier in the thread. Haha)
Lauren laughed at that and shrugged her shoulders. She was fairly new to the school. Of course, she should've found a closer place to sleep where the school would actually be in view. "I'm..." she began and looked down at the ground in shame of herself. Zalman could've been doing something better than showing the new girl around especially after all the awkwardness. Lauren didn't mean to sound so rude towards him. Okay, maybe she did a little bit but that's not how she wanted to act. It was strange. She desperately wanted to be herself in front of people and then she would act the complete opposite of herself. It would just be best to say she was two-faced. That little joke came back to her mind. Zalman would probably eat her if she was a stupid salmon. Lauren looked up and followed behind Zalman, dragging her feet a little. "Uh... I truly am sorry for this." If I was really sorry about it, I wouldn't have bothered him with it...

"It's no big deal, really," he remarked over his shoulder. Zalman could see the academy from where they were, just barely through the trees. To himself he wondered how Lauren could possible have strayed off track. "I don't have much else to do."

Lauren smiled and her face expressed relief when Zalman answered her. Thank goodness... Her pace picked up so she could be walking next to Zalman. He wasn't that bad. He might've been the first guy she ever liked as a friend, of course. The boys she grew up to know were selfish, naive, and arrogant. They always picked a fight with her. It was probably because they thought of her as a guy since she started to be more tomboyish and could put up a fight. They thought her sweeter side was a joke. They would laugh whenever they saw her being more like... a girl, which she was and that insulted her.
Lauren was never worried about guys and dating but part of her was curious about it. The part that thought she didn't have anyone waiting for her like that special someone because she wasn't like other girls. It bothered her and so she tried to shake it off and ignore it. Secretly, she would peek at a romance novel every once in a while. Her small smile grew a little bit bigger as she walked with Zalman. "Well, you looked pretty relaxed back there so I wasn't sure..."

Zalmans smile started to return, and he emerged beside Lauren at the academy. "Ah, well, I didn't sleep last night, so it was nice to rest," he said. "I mean, do you know what it means to stay up all night Miss Sleep-till-noon?" There was humor in his voice.

Lauren puffed up her cute, chubby cheeks with air and looked away from Zalman, crossing her arms and starting to play hard to get. It wasn't her fault he didn't sleep at all last night. He should've saved his excuses because Lauren kept on getting woken up by those yapping coyotes and howling wolves. She looked back at him and flashed a grin on her face. "In fact, I do. I should've went and shut those wolves and coyotes up. I'd give them something to cry about. They wouldn't stop talking to each other and getting into fights. That's exactly why I hate dogs. They are so noisy!" And, Lauren had her excuse. Normally, she didn't wake up so late. "So, what is your excuse?"

Zal sighed and looked away from the pouting female. "Woman," he said, shrugging to himself. "That's my excuse, but I'm not gonna bore you with the details." Looking back at Lauren, he almost laughed, but caught himself. Girls are so emotional.
