The trees towered over a small figure, mocking her as she sat at the base of a tree deep in the forest, legs pulled to her chest, tears ruining her carefully-done black makeup. Her once-cute black, fitting dress was ripped at the base from running for several miles, but she didn't care. Brenda didn't care about anything at the time. She couldn't think of anything but betrayal and the truth that she wasn't wanted by anything. She sobbed her heart until it was dry, and more, not noticing anything - or anyone - approaching.

Jack wasn't one for sympathy, but he did have a soft side. He had followed Brenda from the party, and it seemed as though she was jealous. Jack found the tree Brenda was in and started to climb it. One of the reasons why Jack wanted to make Brenda feel better, was because she seemed beautiful to Jack. "Hey, are you alright Brenda?" asked Jack, sitting next to her.

|Oh yeah, and Chase was evil and decided to break our agreement and date Rayne, so Brenda's up for grabs I think Chase already sent you a PM, but this is just in "Chase" | "F-fine!" She nearly yelled, whipping away tears and drawing in a shaky breath. She was far from her little room in a tree where she and Logan had first met, but she didn't want to hide in a cave of memories. "I'm Fine," Brenda repeated, more calm. The girl stared at her hands in frustration, which were wrapped around her legs. She didn't need balance; she was balance. Brenda could stand on her hands in a two-inch-wide branch for an hour and never once fall. Of course, her arms might go numb first.

(HAHAHAH HILARIOUS)
Jack didn't say anything for awhile. Then he said, "Is it because of Logan? He was drunk, I think, when he asked Rayne to dance." Logan was drinking a whole lot of beer, and Jack assumed that Brenda liked Logan, but Logan liked Rayne, and Rayne may have liked Logan, and yeah. Things didn't seem to go well for Brenda.
(Chase sent me a e-mail. I think I might want Jack and Brenda together. I kept on daydreaming about it while I was gone...That's not weird, right?)

|Just a little. I was planning on that though | Brenda shrugged, exhausted from crying. She sniffed and gulped back the snot that welled at her throat (cuz it happens to everyone). "I-I guess," She admitted, eyes blurred and unfocused, settled on the leaves ahead of her. Brenda turned to the mountains and frowned, wishing she could go there for her own sake. Maybe jump off it or something. But a thought punched her and beat her to the ground before she could fly in the wind and splatter her remains for everyone to see. Is that really how I feel? And does he even deserve me? Or do I not deserve him anyway?

"Yeah, Logan's like that. Wait, how do you know Logan?" asked Jack. Really, how did she know him? A nice girl like her? She must've been scared out of her mind when she first met him!

"We met in the f-forest. I was just wandering around," Brenda answered, twiddling her fingers in self consciousness. She could feel herself blushing. "He wasn't really.. mean then."

"Oh, I see." said Jack under his breath. It was pretty rare for Logan to be non-hostile, and when he was, it was usually with his friends. But in front of somebody else? Unheard of. "Did he say anything about you, when you met? Like, 'You seem nice'?" asked Jack. If anything, Logan must've liked Brenda. And, it had to have been before Logan met Rayne. Because, if Brenda liked Logan, and Logan liked Brenda at the time, they could've started dating. However, Rayne came to the academy, and they both fell for eachother. Honestly, it was a match made in heaven. Two gangsters together? Couldn't fit any better. Sorry Brenda. But, maybe, just maybe, a nice girl, with a gangster who has a soft side? It could work...maybe.

Brenda thought for a moment, looking into Jack's eyes in confusion. "I-I, guess, yeah. He was just being really... nice. He took off his claws and threw 'em out of a tree, and he said I was pretty," She answered. "But I'm sure it was just an act." Brenda shrugged again and turned away, resting her head on the trunk of the tree.

"Well, I know Logan, and if anything, he must have had a crush on you then. I can see why." said Jack smiling and blushing. "There would've been no reason to put up an act like that, really. If he took off his claws and called you pretty, he had to have thought something positive abut you. But, I guess there's no reason to really like him now. Sorry, Brenda."

A chill raced through Brenda as he spoke to her. His voice sounded twinged with a hint of something, but she couldn't place her finger on it. "Yeah," She said, standing up. Taking a shaky breath, she looked in the direction of her little hideout and gulped. "I-I'm gonna walk around in animal form," Brenda admitted before shifting and scurrying up a branch.Yet she didn't leave right away. First she looked down at Jack to see what he would say.

Brenda cocked her head. "You can come, but what's wrong with your animal form?" She asked, shifting back quickly to speak to him. |HA HA| |♥ - >.< I definitely didn't look this up: howto.squidoo.com/keyboardsymbols|

Brenda rolled her eyes. "Just 'cause I'm small doesn't mean I'm weak," She retorted, playfully picking a leaf, crumpling it, and tossing it at Jack. "Besides, I'll be in the trees. I'll always be faster than a big cat when I'm in my natural habitat." The teen smiled, tears still sticky on her face but heart mortared just a little more, and climbed higher in the trees faster than a normal human would, shaking the tree as she went but not noticing because her other half made her immune to being dumb enough to grab on to a weak branch. When Brenda was too high for the tree to hold her human form, she shifted into a squirrel and scrambled across a thin branch, standing on hind legs and looking down at Jack below her.

With a smile, Brenda took a running start off the branch, flying through the air momentarily before landing on another branch and scurrying down the trunk to a lower one. Wind buzzed in her fur and she reached a tree in front of Jack. "Where d'you want to go?" She chirped, leaning over the branch to see the sleek panther

"I dunno, where do you want to go?" asked Jack. He had not been in the forest as often as the other half-bloods, so he didn't know any good places to go. Plus, he was trying to be gentleman-like.

"I don't know either," She admitted. "We could run around till we find a river or something and swim in it?"

|HAHAHAH -searches up skinny-dipping because Mabel is stupid- WOAH OKAY HOW ABOUT NO|
"Sure, why not?" said Jack. He ran around until he came across a wide river. Jack transformed back into a human, and took his shirt off. He jumped into the river, and quickly came to the surface. "That was a stupid idea..." muttered Jack to himself. The river was shallow, and the water was freezing cold.

|Commence Psychotic laugh|
Brenda shifted back as well and laughed like the world was ending due to magical unicorns and the Curse of Gossip. "Well, DUH!" She exclaimed, hesitant to take off her dress. Grinning, she slipped out of her heels, which with a miracle, she had been able to climb trees in, and waded into the water. Being a not-so-warm creature, she shivered at the water. But Jack's slick hair and quick humor dragged her deeper, and she soon slipped all the way into the water. "B-brrrr!" Brenda stuttered, for once not out of fear and shyness. Tensing, she let the water flow up to her shoulders as she let her legs weaken and drift in the lazy-flowing river. Smiling, she swam her way closer to Jack in the shallow water, careful to keep her distance but staying close enough to feel safe.

|Because apparently Jack's slick hair can drag her over. XD|
Jack blushed in the tiniest way possible as Brenda moved toward him. "Are you too cold? We can get out if you are." asked Jack. He didn't want Brenda to turn to ice if they stayed any longer.

"It's okay. So, um, how did you come to the academy?" asked Jack (BECAUSE MABEL IS THE MASTER AT STARTING CONVERSATIONS). He stepped a tiny bit closer to Brenda, because he felt that it was moment to.
(So..do you want Jack to make the move?)

Brenda chewed on her lip as he stepped closer, licking her cold lips and gazing down at the icy water. "Uh, bus?" She suggested, glancing up at him. "Really, that's it. Only reason I came here. Nothing s-super important. Had Logan told his friends about her past?

(You forgot a quotation mark)
"You're saying it as if it was though." said Jack. If she stuttered, she's either nervous or scared. Brenda couldn't be scared, so she must've been nervous. Probably about her past. But why?

|Firetruck (inside joke : what starts in f and end in uck.. FiretrUCK)| "I-it's not that way, though," Brenda protested, stomach lurching. why does this happen to me of all people? Oh, yeah. I'm worthless. The girl sighed. She knew Jack was nicer and more prone to keep secrets than Logan. "It is that way," She admitted. "It's just.. not something I enjoy talking about and knowing that people know it." Brenda looked up at Jack, a tear in the corner of her eye. The last time she had told someone the secret of her past, he had snapped back at her and left her for nothing.

"It's okay, you don't have to tell me about your past. If it makes you uncomfortable, don't talk about it." explained Jack. Yep, Jack's soft side has fully taken over. He noticed a tear in the corner of Brenda's eye, and instantly knew it had to have been something tragic in her past that made her not want to talk about it.

Brenda half-grinned. "Thanks, Jack," She murmured, just wanting a shoulder to lie on. She never had been able to have someone's shoulder to cry on. Even her loving father never had the chance to care for her. So Brenda hed become self-sufficient, even before her parent's tragic death. Whipping away the lonely tear, Brenda asked a question to kinda change the subject. "So, why'd you come? History?" Suddenly Brenda's eyes lit up. "Oh! If you tell me the most tragic thing that ever happened to you, I'll tell you mine."

"Well, yeah. I'll tell you my past. Just don't tell anyone. Well, I grew up in San Fransisco(SAN FRAN IS AWESOME) with my 4 siblings and parents. I had 3 brothers and 1 sister. We started drinking, even when we were under-age. That's one of the reasons I drink, it reminds me of my childhood. Good times back then, good times. My parents died in a motorcycle accident, only less than a year ago. The HBES killed two of my brothers, so I was stuck with my sister and my only surviving brother. We left the city, but I got seperated from them. I started living with my uncle, who was an alcholholic. He kept on speaking of an academy, and as I started listening to him, I soon realized he was talking about this place. So, I came here." explained Jack who surprisingly held back his tears well.
