(This RP takes place two years before Animalia Academy was created. Damian is 14, not 16. Humans are welcome to join, as this does take place while he is on the run. I wanted to do some RP with Damian that expose what his life was like before the Academy was created. So yah. And I HAVE TEH AUTHORITAH AND YOU MUST RESPECT IT! And I also consulted with others about it, so yeah.)
Damian was hunched over as he walked along the sidewalk, hands in his pockets and his wings pressed tightly onto his back as he shuffled through the crowds. He was trying to look as normal as possible, and to anyone else he would have looked like a normal brooding teenager. Nobody else noticed his alert sky blue eyes looking around cautiously, absorbing every detail as he walked.
Only Damian could be that observant. After years of being stuck on the street, the teen had learned he needed to be completely aware of his surroundings to avoid getting into trouble. If anyone was looking to closely he had to know before they found out his secret. And having his wings showing would be a dead giveaway. It's kind of hard to hide the large extra body parts that stick out of your back without it being painful, however. Damian hadn't been able to stretch his wings in human form for who knows how long. At this point he was amazed he even still could after being forced to hide for...
Three years. He'd been on the run since he was 11, when his parents were claimed by a not-so-accidental fire, caused by the government. The government had been worried about half-bloods for a while, trying to wipe them out and make them seem like monsters. Damian and his family had never hurt anyone in their lives. Sometimes he wondered who really were the monsters.
The teen let out a sigh, turning into an alley and leaning against a wall, not willing to keep up the act. He was about to transform into his animal self when he heard shoes skidding on the pavement behind him. He whipped around, eyes darting around wildly, preparing for to fight or flee the scene.

She was a normal teen, as far as half bloods were concerned. Claire Blakely stepped around the corner, hands up in the universal gesture of peace. "Chill, dude, I'm not gonna mug you," she said with force. "I just thought you were being.. different." Claire didn't dare say what she thought. Only half-bloods could recognize each other, and the (at the time) 14 year old could always tell when there was one around just by the feeling of aggression her grey-white based black-spotted beast stirred up. Claire was dressed in a small, middle-cut deep blue shirt and a bright pink skirt positioned high on her waist to conceal her tail. The clothing made her deep blue eyes more elegant, and her perfect black hair shinier. "I'ts alright," she repeated, repositioning the cotton hat on her head that was keeping her ears from line of view.

(Damian might seem OOC, but he isn't. Owl side tends to put him on edge.)
Damian felt threatened. Perhaps it was his owl instincts telling him something was up, maybe it was just that he almost always felt like that now. He was cornered, still wondering whether this girl's intentions were good. She was trying to convince him she wanted peace, but had still followed him.
"W-what do you mean, different?" Damian asked, preparing himself to transform to escape if necessary. If the girl knew his secret he would need to get away quickly. Damian felt his wings pressing even harder into his back, a habit when he got more anxious and scared.
He looked over the other teen carefully, realizing that something was strange about her. He narrowed his eyes, tapping into his keen eyesight to spot what was poking under the girls hat. She had been tense when repositioning it, like she had been hiding something. Soon Damian caught sight of the fur, and realized the girl was a half-blood as well. And a large predator, at that.
"You're a half-blood," he murmured, eyes widening in realization.

Claire gaped and took a weary cautious step back. "I.. yeah.." was all she could say. "But.. please, I'm not going to hurt you humans. I don't know why you guys kill us.. I never did anything wrong, I don't think..." The 17 year-old felt her beast pressing on her chest like a storm in a valley, forcing it's way out and over, and she barely resisted lashing out in self defense. "I just.. I was curious. I'll leave now.. you can forget I was here.." without turning, Claire began backing up, careful not to let her dark brown eyes show feelings any more fierce than a human might have.

"N-no, don't go," Damian reached out before he could stop himself. The thought of meeting another half-blood after so long made him feel like he wasn't as alone, and Damian didn't want to give it up so quickly. He withdrew his hand before it reached the other half-blood however, realizing he was being stupid. He shouldn't trust the girl, even if she was another half-blood. The teen shifted awkwardly, using his dark blue scarf as something to hide behind him. His hands returned to their usual place stuffed in the large pockets of his black coat.
Damian closed his eyes for a moment, debating whether to reveal his secret. Eventually it was too much and the 14 year old had to break the silence. For a moment he shifted to his owl form, giving just enough time for anybody who was paying attention to see the animal that Damian always tried to hide. For a moment he stood still, letting the silence take over. Soon he opened his eyes, looking up at the girl with a hopeful expression, almost pleading that she didn't leave him alone again.
"I don't mind that you're a half-blood."

Claire was speechless. She hadn't ever met another half-blood, believing that she never would. And yet here was another one, shifting from human to animal to human again so fast that if you blinked you would miss it, and Claire almost gasped. "Oh.." she sighed. With a quick glance around, assured that no one was around, Claire allowed her snow leopard to consume her. it bent at her bones and stretched her muscles, gave her a slight itch as the fur came in and coated her skin. But she swallowed the beast quickly, guessing that this male had seen her form clearly enough, and shrugged wen she had shoulders to do so. "Never met another half-blood before," She said quietly.

Damian shrugged. He was honestly surprised he hadn't actually found another in a while. "I have. It's not like we're super rare, we tend to stay hidden. We're endangered, if anything," he remarked, loosening up a bit, knowing that the other half-blood couldn't turn him in without turning herself in too.
He acted as though the fact that she was a giant predator didn't phase him in the least, but he still made a mental note to to tick her off. And maybe to stay away as well. Both snow owls and snow leopards were kind of territorial.
"Wanna...take this...elsewhere?" he asked, gesturing to the general direction of the forest that was nearby.

"Of course," Claire replied, stepping into the trees. The forest welcomed her, but she made sure to head deep into the undergrowth, far enough in so that when she changed she wouldn't be seen, and then she could travel faster.

Damian shifted into his owl form and flew out the alley, hoping to remain unseen as he traveled to the forest. He spotted Claire's leopard pelt in the undergrowth and soared down to meet her deeper in the forest. He led the way to a clearing where they could speak without being seen and shifted again, landing on the ground with a slight thud.
"Why are you on the run, then? Aside from the obvious."

Claire followed Damian, less cautious than before. Shifting back as well, she settled herself on a large fallen log littered with moss and leaves across from the other half-blood. "Well, my family was killed two years ago in an attack on the house," Claire began, wondering if she should tell him the rest of her life story. He can't turn me in without getting killed himself. Knowing about a half-blood and withholding that knowledge is against the law, which is why they've invented truth serum. He wouldn't survive that. Plus, I'm never going to meet him again, am I? "When I had first started to get more comfortable with shifting and when it didn't feel so strange, I began hunting in the woods. My family was poor. I was adopted, actually, but it doesn't matter. "I became careless, though. Once I killed a deer, shifted back without waiting to see if anyone was watching, and began hauling it home. But some guy saw me, reported me, and my family ended up getting blamed. I barely escaped." Claire pulled a crumpled, ripped, and slightly yellowed sheet of paper. Unrolling it, she showed it to Damian. Plastered on the front was a picture of her, with text below it offering a reward. "My human family, the people that saved and cared and raised me, was killed because of my one thoughtless act. I've never forgiven myself for that day." Claire could feel her voice cracking. "Excuse me for a minute." Leaving the paper on the log, Claire pushed herself to her feet and wandered into the forest. When she was a good hundred feet away, she sobbed into her hands, fingers shaking in rage, regret, and devastation all at once. Good thing she didn't own makeup, or she would be a mess.

Damian nodded. Claire's story was a bit similar to Damian's, but not quite. For example, Damian didn't know how they screwed up. He didn't know how anyone had found out. But to him it didn't really matter. What mattered was that they had, and now his family was dead, just because they were different.
Anyone who was different from everyone else had to be a threat. They had to be feared. They had to fear others. Because if they didn't...
Damian was still staring at the ground when Claire walked away. Even from his seat he could hear her sobs. His senses were enhanced a lot, but it was still very faint.
A half-blood's animal form was essentially the physical representation of their personality. That's what Damian had decided. It seemed pretty accurate, most of the time. And if somebody who was as strong as a snow leopard could be scared into crying like that...what exactly was Damian holding in? What exactly had Damian been hiding for 3 years? He didn't want to think about it.
With a sigh, he stood up again and walked silently to where Claire had gone. He didn't want to interrupt her privacy, but she needed to know that she wasn't the only one who had lost somebody close to her. Might even make her feel better to know that.
"They killed my parents," he stated simply, staring at the frosted ground blankly. Images of fire raced through his mind for a moment before he pushed them away. "They started a fire one night, at our house. It was meant to look like an accident so nobody else got suspicious. I was only able to escape because I was still small. I was 11."

Claire's head snapped up and she wiped away tears self consciously, but didn't look at the male completely. "I.. I'm really sorry," she muttered, almost choking. She had loved her adopted parents and sister like they were real family, and they had been her best friends. Losing them had felt like losing her heart or her lungs; she had lost a necessity and now she was drifting. Throat cleared and tears drying, Claire continued to stare at a patch of green shrubbery, blurred, unfocused. "I'm Claire, by the way."

"Damian." Nothing much more had to be said. The owl half-blood figure that it would be better for them both to have some silence for a bit. He tried not to let his past get to him a lot, but sometimes he couldn't stop it. Luckily this was one of those times where he was able to not break down and instead maintain his calm quiet attitude. When was the last time he had let loose anyway?
Deja vue? Damian let out a quiet yet forced chuckle, and it was too hollow to be identified as real in any sense.
The teen looked back down at Claire, realizing that she still hadn't recovered completely from her breakdown. "Are...you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, fine," Claire assured, blinking to focus her eyes. "It's just hard to let go, you know?"

Damian let out a sigh. He closed his eyes for a moment. "Yeah. I know." He still couldn't. Three years later, he missed them. He always thought about them. It was kind of difficult to get over losing the people who always cared for you your whole life.
"These past three years...all I've wanted is to be able to not worry about being hunted. I just want to be safe..."

"I know what you mean," Claire replied. Suddenly, the thought that had been brewing in her chest for at least a few days stirred again, as though it was a soup coming to a boil. "Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a place made specifically for half-bloods? Where we were safe from the Hunting humans?" |Boom. Adding this moment of "Damian says ______ to the idea of AA|

(Yes. This is beautiful xD Got the perfect ending for this thread now ) "Yeah," Damian gave a small smile, maybe the first that had crossed his face for a while. A place that all half-bloods could not have to worry about being hunted. Where they could be themselves without any worry. He looked back at Claire with a lively spark to his eyes that hadn't been there for three years. "I guess that would be pretty cool." (End thread.)
